App installed. No maps.
I recently did some clean up on my machine, removing a lot of apps and cleaning the registry, defrags, the works.
After that I had a really hard time getting EQ2 to run. I had to remove EQ2 and all the mods, manually delete all the folders, and reinstall. Reinstalling EQ2map seems to work fine, all the .xml's and .ddl's are in the proper places. the .ini has the proper entries. I installed .net so i'm not getting an exception error or anything. in fact, I’m not getting anything. its as if eq2map isn't installed at all when i run the game. is there a log file somewhere that may give me some indication of what may be wrong? any one else run into this problem? one clue: I inadvertently removed a ton of .tmp files from my "C:\Documents and Settings\Iorek\Local Settings\Temp" during my clean up. I replaced most of them when other apps failed to work. stupid on my part (windowsxp). I’m still missing some files that were corrupted in my backup when i tried to restore the files. Iorek |
Can't help you but to rule out the .tmp file in normal circumstances. Anything in the \Temp folder is not usually necessary for a program to run (in my experience), unless maybe installed there.. I dono. Don't think its that tho.
Have you tried uninstalling (from add/remove programs or the uninstall shortcut) the map updater prog, then reinstall it? Often solves a lot of stuff. |
