Errors
I've gotten this error a few times, usually if I just close out the program and restart it, there's no problems, but today it wants to be persistent. Here's what it says:
Error Getting File List: System at System.Net.HttpWebRequest.CheckFinalStatus() at System.Net.HttpWebRequest.EndGetResponse(IAsyncResult asyncResult) at System.Net.HttpWebRequest.GetResponse() at System.Xml.XmlDownloadManager.GetNonFileStream(Uri uri, ICredentials credentials) at System.Xml.XmlDownloadManager.GetStream(Uri uri, ICredentials credentials) at System.Xml.XmlUrlResolver.GetEntity(Uri absoluteUri, String role, Type ofObjectToReturn) at System.Xml.XmlTextReader.CreateScanner() at System.Xml.XmlTextReader.Init() at System.Xml.XmlTextReader.Read() at System.Xml.XmlReader.MoveToContent() at System.Data.DataSet.ReadXml(XmlReader reader, Boolean denyResolving) at System.Data.DataSet.ReadXml(String fileName) at WindowsApplication7.Form1.DownloadExtras()The underlying connection was closed: The remote name could not be resolved. |
I got the same error. It was working a few weeks ago, and other then moving my computer into a new apartment, I haven't changed any settings or anything else.

Sounds like a DNS issue. Try visiting http://maps.eq2interface.com/POI_fil...afile_list.xml in IE and seeing if it shows the XML file.

Sorry to be so computer illiterate, but I'm not sure what that response means. I can click on that link and get the XML file when I use Netscape, which is my normal browser.
However, I can't get any web pages to load when I use IE. I expect that this is my problem somehow, because when I try to use the updater and get the error, I seem to get the IE "Action Canceled" error message page in the info portion of the updater. On a related note, my EQ2 download notes now get the same error. It downloads the new updates for the day, but I can't read the notes, and just get the error screen. I was going to uninstall IE and reinstall it, but, being the noob that I am, I can't find the uninstall link for it on my add/remove programs. Can someone take pity on this poor fool and try to help. Thanks. |
You can't uninstall/reinstall IE. But it sounds like you have spyware screwing it up. Run all sorts of anti-spyware programs, and a WinsockFix.

Thanks! I'll give that a try.

Got it working now. Somehow my IE was set up to use a proxy that didn't exist. Thank you all for your help!
