Custom UI still crashes
 

I have updated my eq2ui.xml per instructions but the game still freezes and black screen then crash when only running using the arrow keys. There is something else missing or it may have to be my particular custom UI has something else wrong with it.

I use ThorUI and so far have not seen any new update so I have moved to another custom UI to test it for now.

If you are getting into game, then its probably not an issue with the UI.

EQ2 does often crash on systems with less than 1 gig of RAM while running through a zone. This happens when the game attempts to load more models into memory than will fit. The problem is worse with XP since it uses more of your RAM for the OS. Tweaking your Virtual Memory settings can sometimes help.

Manually setting your paging file to a static limit, instead of a dynamic one, can also free up some work on the CPU, allowing your system to run a little faster. To do this: click Start > Settings > Control Panel > System > Advanced > Performance Settings > Advanced > Virtual Memory Settings

If Windows is currently controlling your Virtual Memory settings, all you have to do is change the minimum value to match the current maximum value set by Windows (values should always be entered in number of MB). The rule of thumb is Maximum Size = 1.5 times onboard RAM in MegaBytes. This will cause your system to set aside a static area on your hard drive for the paging file. No more Windows changing the file size to match current needs, increasing CPU usage to manage it.
