Dont even want to ask

Ok I dont want to ask but I goto find an answer.
I have been reading and searching the fourms and know the issues. I am trying to use the Jaxel UI the Complete OCD experience. Having very wierd issues first. When I logout and back in my UI is unloaded I have to reload it every time I have to restart EQ that normal? When in default I can get all my chat windows and hotbars to load a stay correctly. But when I have to load the UI it loads the UI default settings. Which only has 1 chat window and 1 hotkeybar. Where I can switch to a character that had never had the ui loaded and has 2 chat boxes and 5 hot bars, then load the UI and get 1 chat box and 5 hotbars. It's really screwy and confusing. I have the UI in my UI folder I have DL'd, replaced and renamed the SERVER_CHAR_uisettings.ini I added the eq2.ini text file as suggested with a script " cl_ui_skinname OCD cl_ui_subdir UI/ " I tried using create new tab vs. new box that helped on the default mode did experience the font bug but that ok vs. redoing all the boxes. I'm just at a loss for what I should try or do next other then give up cause I love the UI ... oh and I have tried a few UI's too anyway if it loads or what not I will add a screenshot of what happens when I load ui Screenshot is after loging and after I hit /loadui which I have to do every time. Any suggestions or advice would be great. Oh on my screeshot thats default when loaded I usuaully have 3 chat boxes 3 tabs each and 5 hotkey bars but thats my situation. Thanks everyone |
Is the eq2.ini file in your main eq2 folder? If so is the name of the folder your UI is in the same as the name in the eq2.ini file?
|
Ok not sure I follow completely leme double check Jaxel psot had suggested
In the EQ2 Main Folder create a new text file and named it "eq2.ini" and include in the text "cl_ui_skinname OCD cl_ui_subdir UI/ " So I did that now from the zip file of the UI I extracted it to the ...EQ2/UI Folder so in "EQ2/UI" I have two folders with UI's "Default and OCD" OCD of course contains all the stuff for my ui so are you saying I need to rename the folder? |
Also Landiin your very helpful I appreiciate it alot :)
|
Ok in your main eq2 directory(where everquest2.exe is) there needs to be file called eq2.ini. From what your post says you have one there. The contents of that file needs to look like;
cl_ui_skinname OCD cl_ui_subdir UI/ Make sure in <everquest2>/ui/OCD that this is where all the files are, such as eq2ui.xml, eq2ui_mainhud.xml and ect.. |
If I am correct SoE attempted to fix the /loadui command but it still has problems?
If you have done everything as surgested in the other posts... Just dont use that command its not needed if you just going to use the one UI .... And besides I dont trust it!! |
yup thats what I got :( oh well guess just wait for fixes then
Thanks for the help any other suggestions would be great will keep checking around. Yah I guess it could just be SOE problems cause seem like I can get things working but just wont save or something when log out of EQ completely . |
Also, make sure that you don't have "Hide extensions for known file types" checked.
Tools -> Folder Options -> View -> Advanced Settings -> Hide extensions for known file types (checkbox right below "Hidden files and folders" tree) Make sure that is UNCHECKED, then make sure eq2.ini isn't actually eq2.ini.txt. |
Nice call deathbane it is eq2.ini.txt see if i can fix :)
|
Excillent UI loaded on loging thanks Deathbane27 mild problem now had my 5 hot bars but chat boxes didnt save so going to try a fresh uisettings.ini rest my stuff and see if it will save wish me more luck :)
