UIBuilder

Just notice they give us UIBuilder.zip in today's patch
it's a tool they promise before

hope we can see lots of new UI coming soon

Centhena 11-17-2004 02:40 PM

WOOT i just opened it up and YAY it is a Ui tool :) with instructions and everything..... gonna go read it now.

insomniac 11-18-2004 01:01 AM

A "tool" is supposed to make the job easier...

I was going to make a big long post, but i'll just ask. After actually using this, can anyone say "i will use this to make something"? Having used the xml and this, i think the xml is faster to mod and easier to use.

Dolby 11-18-2004 02:37 AM

I'm going to use it because you can view your changes (graphics / xml) almost instantly with out EQ2 loaded.

Deathbane27 11-18-2004 04:23 AM

As Dolby, I will use this to preview UI changes until /loadui works correctly... on windows that are displayed properly, anyway.

Kudane 11-18-2004 05:18 AM

If you use this to open the EQ2UI.XML you will see how useful this really is.

I copied the EQ2UI.xml file into my new UI directory and anytime I make a change it saves all the effected XML files into my new UI directory.

so i dont have to guess an which files might or might not be effected

I might suggest that you try with the EQ2UI.XML folder and see what you get.

Any way to download the zip? The german server dont patch it :-(

beastnic 11-18-2004 10:56 AM

I like it. But save often is an understatement.

edit: I um found the undo key so I took out my longwinded thing about not being able to undo changes :D

Akku-CS 11-20-2004 03:16 AM

PLEASE anyone put this tool on a webspace and give me the url per pm.
This tool is not part of the german patcher
Thanks

UIbuilder

Any chance that someone might write up a short tutorial on making a basic change to some file using the UIBuilder for those of us who are technically challenged?

Wallin 11-20-2004 11:01 AM

no idea

i have been trying to figure out how to use this UIBuilder. but now i am under the assumption that i need to know XML in order to make my own UI's ?? if so that is a bummer. and could anyone make a quik explination on how to make an easy change to a window. i couldnt even see the wondow graphic in the UIBuilder on windows that were in the default folder :(

Dolby 11-20-2004 01:51 PM

The doc file included in the zip explains a lot. :)

Andric 11-20-2004 03:15 PM

I get a good few error messages when closing this app - I havent investigated yet but looks like there are a lot of memory leaks. May only get them as I have visual studio installed though. Overall it looks ok though.

Dolby 11-20-2004 04:23 PM

Yup thats normal. I think its commented on in the doc file included. I know its in SOE_Bobbles FAQ in the dev shack forums here. :)
