Custome Skills Window
It would rule to make a customed skills window that only display the skills you choose.
I hate having to scroll thru all of the junk to just keep track of the few combat skills I want. |
Hardcoded. the xml lays out a table and leaves the rest to the game. good idea tho.

UI newbie alert! ;-)
Disclaimer: I know very little about programming, just done a little HTML.
How much of this is hard-coded? I'd like to group the skills in the Skills window in a tree. Example: -Harvesting --Gathering --Mining --etc. -Crafting --Fletching --Light Armoring --etc. -Weapon Use --Great Hammer --Spear --etc. -Combat --Crushing --Defense --etc. Reading these forums for the past couple of days and the UI Builder docs, I'm not sure if this can be done at all. I found the Skills window in the MainHUD (but can't actually see the graphic for it), and see the table references. And, I've been studying the TreeView from the quest journal. I assume I need to change the table to a tree. But, I'm thinking there isn't a way to group the skills like I want. And, there may not be a way to point the treeview to the skills anyway. Any thoughts, tips, pointers? :D |
Here's what we can do with the skills window
(Stuff before skills. We can edit this.) (Insert all skills here. We can't edit this part or change anything about it.) (Stuff after skills. We can edit this.) And that's all she wrote. Think of it as a business office where the supplies are run buy an old geezer who's convinced the employees are thieves. He sends the pencils to a specific cubicle and if he doesn't see exactly what he expects to see, he runs off and jumps into dumpster, taking the pencils with him. :p And we can't take the pencils out of the box. All we can do is look at the pencil box as a whole and flip it around to see it from a limited number of different angles. |
That's about what I figured. :(
Thanks for the info, Deathbane. |
Extention of similar idea - knowledge window
I understand that you can't change the icons section however I was wondering if there was a local file that saves the settings about where the icons are located. Basically I sort my tradeskills by type; so one page contains the skills I use (ie. my alchemist has all alchemy skills on 1st page, then 2nd page is apothecary, 3rd geomancy, etc. then all non-used skills come after). All I want is a way to save this sorting and transfer to another character. I can transfer my entire UI settings by copying the <server>_<character>_uisettings.ini file to other character... but the knowledge window needs to be resorted for every character. Doubt there is a way to do this; but thought I'd ask.
