SWG interface for EQ2?
 

Hello,

I wanted to compliment you on the work you guys have done. It is very impressive. I am a SWG refugee and I am enjoying EQ2 immensly. However, after a year and a half of SWG, I am hating the EQ2 interface. I don't think it is bad but it is definately not as friendly as SWG. Do you guys have plans to make a downloadable interface for EQ2 that has the same keymapping as SWG?

I understand you guys are heavy into modding so I thought I would ask here since you guys know the systems better than anyone I have seen.

aww shucks, i'm not a mod here :( (wrong forum)
But.. Interface does not = keymappings. Those are done from the options window in game. If you aren't talking about keymappings and want some swg ui feature copied, please explain exactly what it did, (pictures too maybe) so people like me who never played can attempt to do a mod.:)

Im also an old Swg player that jumped over to Eq2. And i hafto say that the game is awsome, but the ui is abit painfull. espesialy the Chat

Mouse:
If u move the mouse to the edges, u will turn the camera. and if u move forward the effekt will be that character will face him selfe at that way the camera points.

if u turn ur character with arrows the camera wont turn just the character, the camera will just follow.

Keys:
If u start typing out of the blue, it will automaticley start typing in main chat window (has onley one place to chat in), so chatting is realy fast and easy.

If u want to go into ur inventory or some thing u have a short key, as: Ctlr -i for inventory, ctr-m for mail, ctrl-s for skills and so on. Witch is good becouse it dont interfear with typing in chat
Reply is ctrl-R, Tell is Ctrl-t

Chat windows: (biggest thing is eq2 !)
In SWG all chats can be as folders in same chat windows. this meens u save alot screen space, u can have all of them in same place. In eq2 u can chat in all chats in Main chat, but it becomes unusable becouse so mutch info scrolling all the time.

So u want to be able switch between them and keep the chat clean from unwanted info.
Ex. If i am in guild chat, i dont want to see the main text scroll, and mess up my reading in guild chat. But u still want to see messeges like tells in them.

(In swg u can config chats to have all funktions in them if u want, not just in one windows as in eq2)

So what do u do in Eq2 to get 3 windows like: Mainchat (to see tells), Groupchat and Guildchat ? well u have to have 3 chat windows up, ANOYING even in 1280x1024.

U want to have just 2 windows. In first window to be able to switch between GROUP and MAIN chat (in folders), but still see System messages in both of them, like server is going down or Tell from ppl.

In second window i want to have guildchat, becouse i dont want to miss guild chating. But u still just type in one window not in everyone of them. the windows is just to see the txt.

So in SWG i can have
Main, Group, Guild, Combat, Auction in same window, and an extra for guildchat. to type in one i switch folder (in main)

Yeah the boat has been picking us up just outside of Theed, down river from the waterfall. But I have found that the UI isnt the issue near as much as the interface.

don;t get me wrong here, and i'm not trying to flame, but isn't UI and interface the same? User Interface and Interface sound alot alike.

I think what's he's saying is that the Graphical interface isn't the problem but the way the game actually works... chat, tells, movement, etc..

tabbed chatting in eq2 would be awesome.. that was great in SWG

I used to make interface mods for dark age of camelot, but I can't figure out how to use the uibuilder program for eq2, so I can't make chat tabs on my own...
