Don't even know how to star map :/
I have made my custom folder under UI, I have everything under there. How do I even start the map? I have no short cut for it so I don't know how to start before game and when I open map in game... it is just the normal map. I also downloaded that windows frame thigner as well.
Any help would be great. |
this is not 3rd party software that runs in the background. you do not have to start anything in order to play.
run the updater, close the updater, run eq2 and enjoy the maps. the updater can be found in start-program files-EQ2MAP Updater-EQ2MAP Updater |
:S i guess I just suck at doing this stuff cause it wont work for me
|
Give a slightly more detailed description of your current custom UI folder and/or what you've done so far and someone might be able to help you. For now I can just point you to this:
http://www.eq2interface.com/forums/s...ead.php?t=1792 And this: http://www.eq2interface.com/download...fo.php?id=3391 The instructions for both the auto and manual versions of EQ2map are in those 2 links. |
well i downloaded the map doo hicky :) then I installed it, and it copies all of its file into my C: Drive. Then I update it, auto launch eq2, nothing happens.
I tried to make a custom folder and put the files into that (which is in the UI folder) and still nothing happens. |
is EQ2 installed on the C drive? or is it installed to a different directory?
|
Yea it is on the C: Drive under program files, then Sony, and then everquest2
|
the eq2map folder should be
c:\program files\everquest II\ui\eq2map and there should be an eq.ini file in your directory c:\program files\everquest II\ |
what about the images folder and uhm... the eq2ui_mainhud_map ?
is there a link for what my .ini should have written? |
Open the Everquest II folder. Select TOOLS then FOLDER OPTIONS from the Explorer window. Click the VIEW tab then uncheck HIDE EXTENTIONS FOR KNOWN FILE TYPES. Now, you should have a file named eq2.ini. If you see one named eq2.ini.txt, right click it and select RENAME and change the name to eq2.ini. If you open eq2.ini in notepad, it should have the following:
cl_ui_skinname eq2map cl_ui_subdir UI/ This file tell EQ2 to load the files located in c:\program files\everquest II\ui\eq2map. This directory hold all your custom files. In it you will have some folders named images and eq2map as well as a couple of XML files. One of which is named eq2ui_mainhud_map.xml I hope this helps. |
try deleting your eq2.ini file the biggest problem people have is incorectly setting it up, just let the updater create one for you.
|
k i tried uninstalling and reinstalling eveything, include .net framework thing. thing is, when i try to install .net now i get this...
uhm is there anyway i can increase the size of the image... basically it is saying som resources cannot be found :S or something like that... |
I think I may have a similar problem installing EQ2MAP_Updater_0.97_Setup.exe.
On install had 'request confirm EQ2 directory box', which listed the correct location for EQ2 game files (C:\Program Files\Sony\EverQuest II), so I accepted it. Now eq2ui_mainhud_map.xml, eq2map folder, and images folder, have been created in C:\ There is no sub folder in UI (except Default and fonts). It doesn't look like eq2.ini has been updated either as it only contains: r_aa_blit 1 A really clear list of which files/folders your installing and where they should be would be real handy. Also exactly what the replacement eq2.ini should finally contain would be good. At the moment I don't know what files should be where, or if I'm missing any. I know it's a pain, but this stuff should be included with a general release beta. ;) On the bright side this is no way as big a hastle as installing the 50+ mods i run under Morrowind! :D |
Here is the directory structure:
*\EverQuest II\UI\eq2map That is your custom directory. Inside it will reside your EQ2Map or other UI modifications. In that directory: \eq2map (custom changes to the map UI) \_default \antifog \closeonesc \eloaquests\images (image files) \icons (icons) \maps (map files are here) I hope this helps. :D |
the problem is from the fact that eq2.ini doesnt have a custom folder set for it and at the time i wrote the updater i was in a hurry and never added a check to make sure that the file had a custom directory in it. that is why its writing to the C: drive. either add the lines needed for a custom ui or delete the file, run the updater and then add the line you wanted in the file.
