Fixing the In-Game Browser?

I was curious if anyone had looked into, or if it was even possible to fix the eq2ui_inventory_HTML.xml web browser to correctly display websites.

I don't think there's anyone out there that wouldn't want a in-game web browser but being unable to properly display anything makes it nearly useless.

Check out my FetishJournalHTML 3.3. Includes a simple bookmark system I setup.

It displays plain HTML sites fine with a few exceptions.
1) Window often needs a minor resize nudge to draw in graphics.
2) Linking seams to be completely disabled. This is a major issue IMO that hopefully I can convince SOE to correct.
3) Doesn't handle most form elements. Minor issue, would be nice to have.
4) Doesn't appear to understand StyleSheets. Very minor inconvenience.

Its a basic HTML browser. It doesn't do JavaScript, VBScript, Flash, or any of the other things added onto the pro browsers. As a result, it can't possibly deal with sites that use script to layout their pages.

I'm investigating the possibility of displaying a fully functioning IE window inside EQ2 (The Patcher does it) but I wouldn't hold my breath ;)

FetishJournalHTML and the origional is actually what I was referring to in the first message. Sorry but that browser is so screwed up it's not worth messing with in my opinion, although I do like some of the functions you added, bookmarks etc.

But yes I have seen several programs that will call up a modified IE window within itself. Maybe somehow the same thing can be pulled off here.

Although its theoretically possible, even easy for SOE to embed IE, I doubt they did. And if SOE didn't its highly unlikely we can.

Seriously, other than forms and links, the HTML window displays regular HTML pages with images just fine. Its just hard to find sites that aren't script driven these days.
