Will this have a price tag

Being how it is beta now, are you going to come out with a launch and a price tag to use at some point?

I do believe that SOE would effectively shut them down if they tried to put a price on it. It's a community/volunteer program so I don't see them ever charging for it.

I can not speak for Dolby and the Entire EQ2MAP team, but to date I have never seen any type of UI Mod ever have a price put upon it. Unless of course you hired someone to create the custom UI for you and paid them.

Speaking as a UI Mod Author I am happy I can give something I created to the community to use. I would never dream of charging a price for any of my mods. As authors we provide these mods and utilities for use by all members of the Community.

While my reasoning may not be as altruistic as Humudce's (I make stuff I intend to use, and give it out as a secondary) I too can't imagine charging for anything I've made. Just keep the ego happilly stroked and all is good. :D

Discussed this when eq2map was just an idea, the general opinion is that charging money is a horrible idea. [here]

hard to charge for open source stuff :p

Funny I never saw that post, but it's there. Thanks for digging it up Insomniac. Charging for anything we do here is a generally bad idea. I mean with the Website software, such as the Theme I use on my website, those folks can and do charge for their work, but website (PhPNuke) themes do not fall under the SoE Eula either.

No matter it really looks like this and all the other mods will always remain free, for all in the community to use.

Charging would be bad...

however, a button for PayPal donations is totally acceptable IMO, if nothing else than to offset site costs.

hehe not a bad idea:)
