Test Server Mods

Just an idea, maybe we could have a special area for just uploading mods that are created/changed from the test server UI folder. Since many times, SOE changes xml's on test, this might give the UI modders (me included) a great place to upload test server mods for other users to test and debug:(Since I know many do play on Test Server). This could save us time when the mods are tested in this way for when / if they hit Live servers. All the debugging, requests could potentially be done and ready for live without scurrying to rapidly get patches/fixes/new mods made.

Dolby already has taken the first step in giving us the "heads" up on Patch #6, TY Dolby.

Just a thought, maybe we don't need such an area for these test dl's but then again, might be nice.

That can be tricky though, that's how I think I had the issues with my XP Bars with Vitality. I patterened the code after the Test Server code when they introduced the Vitality Indicators, and SoE cleaned up that code ever so slightly before they took the changes on test live. I didn't catch those changes until long after the mods were released and I had people commenting that they were crashing when trying to choose another character from the Character Select window.

Also over on EQ2Vault on the Ask SoE #34 Steve "Moorgard" Danuser in his last statement said that the Live Update #6 is hitting the Live Servers this week. We shall see.

If anything it could work for those who play only on test, rather than "testing" for "live". But usually changes to live don't take toooo long to get to live.

My preference is that modders simply create a thread in the Beta board and attach the Test mod there. This allows the author to delete the attachments once the test version goes to Live servers and the file is uploaded to the regular area. Much less hassle in my opinion.

Well I mean, if your playing on test, as your main character, I could see the want for it, but otherwise... /shrug
