Rivervale map kinda screwy

The western part of the map is fine- if you go past it's boundry the arrow just disappears. Rivervale East never shows up.

please post /locs at the end of the map where it should transition. I made that map and havent gone to the zone since i mapped it, so i hanvent been able to get the transition perfect.

Eastern Side of Map

It doesn't work. It just shows the west side. :(

I cleared out the map dir's and re downloaded, still no workie.

I sure love this Mod BTW. Really a great job all! :nana:

gravlox 04-02-2005 05:59 PM

Aye, it never actually makes a transition- it always shows the western part of the zone. So, if you are in the eastern part, it shows the map for the west and obviously no location arrow can be displayed.

The center of the zone is ~-405,-50.

run the updater again, see what happens in that zone now. Made a change to it.

gravlox 04-03-2005 04:46 AM

I ran the updater, and saw that the Rivervale east was modified. It still doesn't work. Maybe you swapped an x for a y on the zonerect?

One transition point is near -495, -272.

north road transition area

the spot i just enter the grey edge on the map following the northern road is at the intersection where the Laughing trout is at -490.38,0.06,-117.98.
Following that road north toward the nightblood area, i go off the edge of the map entirely at -514.25,-0.63,-170.43.
I hope that helps.

Oh also, on the area of the map that does show, you have a POI for the laughing Trout, the #'s are basically correct but the place on the map is way wrong.

transition still not working for me

Rivervale - second map doesn't always display

How can I fix this so that the second part of the map displays in Rivermail when moving east? I've noticed if you are in the southern part of the zone and move east it works correctly, but not in the north.

BTW, I saw the other threads regarding this, but no solution...

Colbalt 04-30-2005 04:33 PM

Any idea's on when the east side of RV will be fixed? :D

saegur 04-30-2005 04:54 PM

i would ask the other way around:
who could i help to get this fixed? do we need noew zonerects?

Strilen 04-30-2005 06:19 PM

It works for me occasionally. WHat locs you need exactly?

same problem

I and my guildies are also having this problem, for whatever that is worth.

I will take this moment to let you know how switching works between maps of the same area...

In your custom directory you will find a directory named eq2map. In this you will find a file named core_mapstyles.xml. When you edit this file, do a search for river. You will locate the following:

<ImageStyle Name="rivervale_0" zonerect="-108,-388,500,321" availablerect="-110,-450,340,350" availablepriority="0">
<ImageFrame Name="imageFrame" Source="images/maps/map_rivervale_0.dds" SourceRect="0,0,436,506"/>
</ImageStyle>
<ImageStyle Name="rivervale_1" zonerect="340,-450,900,321" availablerect="380,110,920,350" availablepriority="1">
<ImageFrame Name="imageFrame" Source="images/maps/map_rivervale_1.dds" SourceRect="0,0,436,506"/>
</ImageStyle>

Rivervale_0 and rivervale_1 represents the east and west maps. Availablerect is the command that lets EQ2 know when to switch these maps from one to the other.

The present settings for these are:
availablerect="-110,-450,340,350" for rivervale_0
availablerect="380,110,920,350" for rivervale_1

AvailableRect (x1,y1,x2,y2) -- similar to ZoneRect except it specifies the zone area (current location) when this map should be displayed. This defaults to ZoneRect. Overlapping split maps set the shared edge to the point you want to switch to the second map. This allows the maps to switch without moving all the way to the edge. Availablerect is the loc coordinates, that when you're within them, the map will change to that map (that map being the one whose availablerect you're within).

So.. for rivervale_0 we have a zonerect of -108,-388,500,321 which is -W, N, -E, S. For rivervale_1 we have a zonerect of 340,-450,900,321. Whith this information, we would assume that the availablerect for rivervale_0 would be -108,-388,405,321 and rivervale_1 would be 405,-450,900,321.

I arrived at these numbers by "assuming" rivervale_0 was the west-most map and rivervale_1 the east-most. If you draw 2 boxes that slightly over lap each other and lable the one on the left 0 and right 1 then put the zonerec's on the sides, you get a picture of how the maps lay. Now you draw a box center to the left edge and that would be your availablerect for rivervale_0. Do the same to get rivervale_1.

I hope this answers your questions and enables those with access to the zone to come up with a proper setting for the map swap.

I'll try and get in there with a couple of Level 50 friends of mine to gray most of the zone out. And see if I can get coords for it.

Maimer 05-01-2005 03:27 AM

Work around for Rivervale east

If you enter the eastern part of zone from the southern area of map (not the north road as everyone always does), the eastern part WILL show up just fine and work. If you do come in from the north, just head south along the road (before Laughing Trout) and it will swith over just after you cross over the southern bridge. Then you can head north along the road again and it will be just fine.

diztorded 05-01-2005 11:27 AM

I noticed there was a difference in the zone sizes. I was wondering if this was real..
rivervale_0 we have a zonerect of -108,-388,500,321
rivervale_1 we have a zonerect of 340,-450,900,321

Should They not be the same size? Rivervale_0 is 608 E-W and 709 N-S while rivervale_0 is 560 E-W and 771 N-S. But then again, I guess this all depends on who did the maps since this is a scale ratio of game to map.

The act of walking south to get the map to switch says that you are walking into one of the two boxes that are created with our availablerect statements.

The present settings for these are:
availablerect="-110,-450,340,350" for rivervale_0
availablerect="380,110,920,350" for rivervale_1

As you can see, rivervale_1's northern area of the box is set to 110 which is somewhere near the middle of the map (-W,N,-E,S). Increasing this towards the northern region should correct what you are seeing Maimer.

Dashl 05-07-2005 08:16 PM

Still not switching to the other side when I go from the north. Guess I will try from the south, since posts in here said that would work.

Maycrof 05-10-2005 09:53 AM

i have that problem and delete rivervale files... run update and get again... still not working for me... what i can do for this work?
