Java Exception Thrown

Java 7 update 40

Profit Updater 1.991

Following error when starting the updater.

Any ideas on how to fix this?

Does Profit still update even with it throwing that error? Mine did that for awhile until it bugged me enough to wipe java and reinstall.

I usually use JavaRa to clean out java before reinstalling.

You can also open windows task manager to make sure all java.exe processes are closed before starting Profit.

Other than resetting shorcuts in Java from the control panel and reinstalling the updater I am out of ideas.

I don't recall which thread it was in, but we chewed on this at some length. I did find that mine was throwing the exception even with no rogue java processes running. The updater always worked, so I mostly ignore it.

Manually updating java, or resetting the shortcuts seems to fix the issue pretty reliably.

Ultimately, the problem is java. I've seen stupid architecture over the years, but nothing tops java's decision to put working executables in system temporary folders. I learned this the first time I ran CCleaner to remove temporary files and blew away java's "deployment cache." That's another thought: If you run a utility to clean out temporary files, you *must* exclude java.

I reset the updater settings and that fixed it.

And Zidu even with the exception it was still working.
