Strange Lights from Under Ground??

Have any of you seen this before?
What is it? |
Yeah I have, not sure why either.

Rainbow
Ya.. it's a rainbow.. it can give you items, quests or baddies...
you need a Scrying stone from the docks in TS ... stand in MIDDLE Of rainbow, and examine the scrying stone ... (they sell for 10 silver each or you can buy stack of 50..) there is a little ratonga guy on the dock (left side as you go on it) who sells the stones ... i've gotten some nice items from them... however, if you 'disturb something', be ready to either fight it, or run clear to the zone and exit.. it will NOT stop chasing you ... aloe (everfrost) |

I'll have to keep a couple of those on me. I've only seen this twice before. |
Related question
I have unearthed a ton of what are called "artifacts" from these scrying stone rainbow spots. When examined, they say they should be given to someone who collects such artifacts. I ooc'ed in-game and someone told me that a guy named Riktanus in Antonica wants them. But, when I talk to him, he gives me quests. Are these quests somehow related to the artifacts? I am sorry to post this on the EQ2UI forums but have been asking this everywhere and noone seems to know.
Thanks. |
rainbow
yes the artifacts are indeed quest starters :)
some items ( you'll see some book type things .. grey in colour ) that will start a quest .. to kill so many critters in a 5 minute or a 2 minute time limit.. the trick to this is to go to a newbie zone and kill the deer or snakes or what ever there ... they will fulfill the quest requirements :) |
The artifacts sell back to the Ratonga you bought the stones for. To save you some hassle, the rewards which are not wearable (coins, plates, harnesses, and those baskets) will be sold back for the same cost as the stones offered. So when you get offered a comb or 4 stones, the comb will sell back to the Ratonga for 40s. The exceptions to this rule are wearable items like the Ring and Bangle, and the training books. On Nek you can sell the Ruined Ancient Bangles for about 40s, Ruined Ancient Rings for about 60-80s and the Boots for about 20s. The color the stones glow determines what you will get. Sometimes nothing, sometimes items, and sometimes you get mobs. The ghost Distrubed Corpses are vicious casters, so be prepared for an annoying fight.
Two notes: 1. The mobs will never give up unless you die or zone. Then they return to the rainbow and stand around, no longer aggressive to you or anyone else. 2. Ancient Chainmail Shoulderpads sell to the non-greedy merchants (I use Inkeepers) for 1g8s. So you can avoid having to sell to other players and just sell those for easy gold |
ohh are Scrying stones those thing you inspect and they say "Used to send individiuals on spiritual journeys" ? or something like that?

Ah thanx for the info.

Riktanus
So is what I was told about Riktanus wrong? Anyone else hear about this? I'm finding the money spent on scrying stones to not be much worth it.

and fir those of us from the bad side it is an Iksar on the docks in Nektulos and the areas the the rainbows apere
near the cidatal of gul'thex funural pyre bone lake blackwaterpond behemoth pond near fireguard camp leeot Nek Castle got these locs from eq2players forums and ran circuit between all of them one night and found 5 rainbows rainbows also have several charges so you can use more than 1 stone at each have made 6-8g in a night doing this with a 25 assassin |
I have no idea about the quests, my friends and I all do it just for cash. The "grand prize" of the rainbow is that 3 Brillant Whites in a row will give you a gold coin worth 10g at the stones merchant. As you can guess it's not common to get that coin, but the chance is there. I've spent about 60g on stones so far, but I've made it all back and then some through selling the items on the Broker or to the Innkeeper
