Trouble updating
 

I have been trying for a week to update DKP Scribe to version 6.0. When I submit the new file, my browser just tells me that it is waiting on the server for about 15 minutes then times out. What it reminds me of, is what fileden.com does if you try to submit a .exe file. For that reason, i am wondering if the fact that DKP Scribe is a .exe file is preventing the upload. Any suggestions as to how I can get the new version up would be helpful.

As long as the update is inside a .rar or .zip it should upload unless our scanner finds a virus. Can you email the file to [email protected] and I can take a look?

I have sent the file. I am wondering if maybe it is too big.

Haven't gotten the email yet but what size is the file?

My @mmoui.com is a gmail business apps address so it should accept really large files.

Anything show up if you upload it to https://www.virustotal.com/ ? Thats what I was going to do when I received it.

It is in a .rar, but apparently any.exe even zipped is an illegal attachment.

Virus Total came up with nothing found but that it contains an unknown .exe file. This is not a surprise. The file is 2mb.

Can you try uploading once more? I found a permission problem. If it fails please re-email me the file but rename the extension on the exe to .txt or something safe.

Still no luck uploading. I just renamed the .exe and emailed it.

Oh one thing I forgot you are choosing the checkbox "replace with" correct? I know its easy to forget and will be removed in the new version of the site.



Got the email this time. I'm not seeing anything wrong with your file. Once you respond to the above question I'll try uploading it my self after I rename the txt to exe.

Yes I am choosing the replace with check box. If you would like, I can attempt the upload with the renamed executable. That way we can see if that is the issue. Then you can rename it for me on your end.

Found the problem, some new code I forgot I added a few months ago. I didn't add .rar to the allowed files array for archived files. so when it was trying to archive your previous version it was erroring. I got an error when I tried to upload your release and was able to track it down. It now uploads fine for me. Your next release you should have no trouble.

Thank you for the help. I have one question though. The rar now has a file in it named DS_Store. This was not part of my original .rar file. Any idea what this file is?

LOL, It doesn't appear to hurt anything, so I will just leave it alone.

More accurately I unpacked it on my macbook then on my pc was looking at it over the network and renamed the exe and re compressed it. The PC doesn't ignore that folder where if I did it on my macbook it would have ignored that.
