Newbie question

Hi,
I just started to use the builder and when I load a xml it just display a black window, do I have to do something so it show me what the window look like?

Thanks.

I had the same problem at first. Copy the entire contents of your UI\Default folder to a working folder. Tell UIBuilder to open WorkingFolder\eq2ui.xml. Select MainHUD from the tabs in the preview window and you should be able to see what you're working on, assuming it isn't set visible=false (the eye icon above the attributes box) and it's high enough in the layer order (the arrow keys above the container list.) Hope this helps.

Edit: Oh yeah. Once you're done making edits and save, copy only the modified files into your mods folder. Things can get ugly if you copy some of those files into a playable mods directory.

No! Bad ger! (badger?) JUST copy eq2ui.xml. Copying the other files will increase the likelyhood of stuff needing to be recopied after patches so you're changing current files.

...Follow the rest of ger's instructions as he gave them. The key is to open the copied eq2ui.xml instead of the individual files.

Ok now I can see the interface.

Next question ;)

I have a modify version of the exp bar I took from this site and I would like to modify it, right now I cant seem to find where it is, if i look at the main UI everything is overlapping and I dont see the modified exp bar. Can anyone shed some light.

Thanks for your understanding.

Find the Experience bar in the list within MainHUD and click on it

Press the "Move to top" button above the list. Up arrow with a line over it.

I did but I still dont see it.

Yeah, well, okay. I do tend to recopy the entire working dir every patch and just throw whatever window I happen to be working on back in from my game-loaded mods directory.

(Badger badger badger badger MUSHROOM MUSHROOM?)

Edit: Finding the XP bar. Copy the contents of the location attribute and set it to 0,0. At least that way you know where the silly thing is while you're working on it. You can always move it back to its intended position when you're done.

Oh, and in the preview window, make sure the MainHUD tab is selected. :p
