I found this in a few places and it was posted in the beta forums at SOE. One poster said this was posted about 11am today (Sunday)

I wanted to address a couple of concerns:

1) Login - these issues should be completely gone in the next few days. Sorry for the problems, but simply put there were problems that needed addressing.. and addressing them caused some bugs.. those will be gone quickly.

2) Lag - it's really 2 zones atm.. it's Antonica and Commonlands. The team has made great strides in this area..and they have some big stuff coming in within the next few days that we hope is really going to get things back to normal. It's gotten a lot better, but we see it too (we're all playing EQ 2 all the time). This will go away before we launch. Please also understand that we have very deliberately been running the servers at what we consider to be the maximum capacity. In the next day or so we'll add another server or two to the list that players can go to. This should help a lot since as we let in a lot of new people we won't be seeing them all go in to the existing ones. Our strategy here is a simple one - to keep the servers stressed out to make sure we address server performance issues. At launch we will have a significant number of servers, so in and of itself this should help a great deal.. but we're not relying on that. We're going to make sure the performance is good.

3) Launch - The offical announcement comes out tomorrow. While I understand that some of you may feel the game is coming out too early.. we feel very strongly that we can address the remaining issues and have a very smooth and successful launch. We have a lot of things that we're testing internally before we open them up to you all... and that does include a ton of bug fixes that are underway. The team is closing bugs out at a lightning fast rate. From the outside, when you see login issues it looks like we've taken a step backward.. and I can understand how it appears that way. But the people on this team are stone cold pros who have done this for a long time and are dedicated to making sure EQ2 is an enjoyable experience.

11/8 (Shiped to stores)
and
11/9 ( Aviliable in Stores)

Again This UNOFFICIAL Date

A shipping date of Nov 8th means the Release date is actually Nov 9th.

one of the misconceptions is that the ship date is the release date. The release date is usually the day after shipping.

Everyone's excited now just wait til the 8th. That day might just seem forever. To be honest, I'm getting really excited now. And it's been awhile since I've had this much excitement about something like this. :)

hehehehehe am still naut going to believe that release date until I have those shiny DVD with the words EQ2 printed on then ....and then won't TRULY believe it til after all the patching and am ACTUALLY in the realms (off the subject a bit )...going to be busy work for the baby dragon and I ,we must purge the non-role-players early afore they get a chance to take root and befoul the realms as they have done to my beloved FV Server ~Sharpening skinning knives~MUAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

When do you think they will wipe characters, or shutdown beta servers I mean?

Thats a good question. I thought SOE would have waited to officially announce it until Friday or something, or at least until after all the beta spots have been given away. There are quite a few sites out there still handing out spots, wonder what most people think about getting into the beta of a game on the verge of release. I dont think they'll wipe beta characters til a few days before release though, maybe a week. We'll see I guess.

The release was sooner than I expected. Now I have no computer that can run EQ2 with only 2 weeks to go. Looks like I will spend a few days researching computer parts. Hopefully I can get them ordered in soon enough to build me a box before release.

does any 1 think they will go rt from beta to release or just do a fast weeks worth of open beta

Known SOE and how they are handling things, they will be going streight from beta to release with maybe 1-2 days of offline while they wipe the servers and prep them for release.

Yes, there will (should) be a character wipe before going live. It will be a mistake not to. However, I can see SOE doing this just to retain their beta customers (again, I say I think it will be a mistake not to do a character wipe before live).
