simple edit, but beyond me
i prefer a spartan UI.. and my setup is default with some basic resizing.
however, over in eq1 i could edit the background color of my bags with a right clik.. and i prefer a kinda light green for quest bags, and light orange for personal supplies.. poisons, extra food, arrows, clikies. im happy with that setup, but i cant get it to work in eq2.. how can i get my bags to be like my eq1 color system.. the most aggravating part of the dark bags thing is when im trading with a crafting client.. an the bags are dark.. an i cant tell whats been traded an whats not been put in the trade window yet as there ALL dakened out an thats not very helpful. Ty in advanced. |
You should be able to change the background color of all bags, but I don't know if you'll be able to have different colors for different bags. Each bag is a clone (a copy) of the same basic window XML. You might be able to do it by putting a color selection feature into the bag window (so that it then changes it for just that bag in-game) but I'm not sure if it would save it between sessions. One of the folks that is better versed in UI modding might be able to shed more light there.

You could possibly script a different frame color for each bag but actual background color for bag contents is shared across all bags and bank/inventory windows.

I'm still kind of a noob at UI modding, but I wonder if an instance of a bag can "see" its ingame settings, like its title and so forth. If so, maybe a default bag could be made with a colored rectangle in the back that only gets turned visible if the bag instance is named, say, "orange". You'd have to hardcode the colored rectangles and for each you'd have to make the code to look for the matching bag name.

I have a mod that will do something like what you're asking. You decide on several bag "categories" (Armor, Quest Items, Harvests, etc.) and assign a color to each of them. Then when you rename a bag with that category, the background changes to that color. This works across all your characters for inventory, bank, and house vault. The color change is permanent until you rename the bag again.
The color bag mod will appear with a configuration tab in the next DarqUI updater version, which will make it easier to set up custom names and colors. If you want to try the bags out before the update, the file is attached below. Category and color values are near the top of the XML script. |
