Updater doesn't start anymore...?

Since yesterday, the updater doesn't work for me anymore. When starting, I see the Java logo; then I get the message:

(see attachment 1)

Details show:

(see attachment 2)

What's wrong? Same effect on two PC's, one of them was installed from the scratch...

I just tested it myself. It is working for me. Check it again, maybe the server had a hiccup when you were trying.

No, not working for me anymore. Maybe it's the Java version? I'm using win7 64bit on both systems; where can I see the java release? Or can someone take a clue from the error message; that's very cryptic for me...

Relaunch it from http://updater.pala.de
Java deleted its' cache and is not able to find the application anymore. This usually happens after updating Java or after using some weird cleanup tools.

Doesn't work either. The Java web launcher starts doing something, I can see a message like "verifying application" and a progress bar shortly. After that, the error occurs.

I already re-installed both 32- and 64-bit versions of Java 1.6.0_23-b05 without success. And I deleted all temporary internet files within Java. I tried both the local icon as launching via the web site. I have no clue why it's not working anymore for me... :(

I do not see why it would even try to start it from the cache at that point. Maybe any kind of firewall or antivirus preventing it to write files?

Ok, finally got it working.

Enabling "direct connection" (instead of "browser settings") in the network options AND caching of JAR files (in temporary files) solved the problem.

Hope this helps if someone else encounters the same difficulties.
