GU57 Change to EQMAP
Today I ran the updated and before I knew it I had the "new" look and feel.
I dont want any of the affordances, I know how to turn of the frame but how do I get rid of the horrible N,E,W,S rubbish. I learnt that the top of the map is North in boy scout 45 years ago and dont need the reminder, compulsary training wheels are silly. Milliebii |
agreed, can we get the old mini map window back, or at least an option to use it.

Here here!
Yes, PLEASE give us the nice clean minimap graphic back.. and while we are at it.. can we get rid of the annoyingly large "there is no map for this zone" graphic that sticks out past the edges of the minimap?

In short no, we match the default as close as we can. There is nothing stopping you or someone from making a mod for such a thing though.

Small issue to report to the devs for fixing. I noticed (now that I have the program working right again), that the find tab and scroll bar on the main map windows are longer than the actual map and stick out on the bottom beyond the frame a bit. I tried removing the frame and title bar, but it still just out a bit further. Resizing the window also does not correct it. I believe it is an issue with the grafic need a bit of adjustment. However, as this isn't a major issue I am content to wait and live with it until an update and fix is found. Just thought I should make the devs of eq2map aware in case they have not been informed yet. I am just very happy to have the program actually working again now as it basically should.

All very well to say there is nothing stopping me from making the change to remove the crap myself except:
1. How? 2. Will this then break the autoupdate of maps and POI? I realise that I can simply edit the relevant xml file to remove the images from the layout. But this will be overwritten the next time I run the Updater. More complex changes are possible but I dont know the best approach to make my desired change with no impact to the rest of EQ2Map. I suppose if the updater had a file exclusion list .... but this seems like a bigger change than my original request. |
