Manual Version - How to build another

Ok gm9 was looking at the announcment and wanted to ask what do I need to do to bring the manual download up to date with the game. There is so many variations of the files and not sure where to begin to make this doable. I can host it for those who are majorly having problems with the updater.

Would probably be easiest if those working on it did it since they got all the files, but it is their decision (e.g. Kaldran could easily offer an always up to date all in one package on the updater server but I do not know whether he considered it or has the spare bandwidth for that. Or Silat could post a package on here). Otherwise to pull everything down from the updater it would probably be easiest to select each variant once (ending on the default variant) to have the updater grab them all. Skip the skins.

Bandwidth should not be a big deal, but cpu time might, I'll monitor that.

ZIP file with all current files generated on the fly from the updaters' file list

ProfitUI All-in-one package (~28MB)

You will find that link on the updaters' website as well....

However I don't know how this behaves on slow connections where the script might time out before streaming all of the data...

Downloaded and attempted to open. Winzip gives an error as not a valid zip file. Windows Explorer does indeed open it though.

At that size you've got all the skins in there, suggest to drop them since they are available as a separate download from this site.

Removed the skins and also zipped with Winzip and was able to get the size to 3 megs vs 28

If you want I can upload here or I can host to my webspace.

No need, Kaldran just needs to exclude the skins directory in his php script. I'm going to add his manual download link to the announcement you mentioned in the OP.

Cool I am sure those who are having issues with the updater will love ya for this.

Not sure what he used to compress with but I do know Winzip will error out if you try to unzip with it

gm9 06-20-2010 07:32 PM

Not me, thank Kaldran, lol.

Not sure what the WinZIP issue is, WinRAR opens the file just fine. But it just figures that if you provide a .zip archive to help people having issues with the updater, you then run into issues with the .zip archive. A neverending vicious circle. ;)

Yep always is.:D

Kaldran 06-20-2010 11:15 PM

Not sure what the issue is either.

I now pre-create the archive instead on sending a zip-stream directly. Stresses out the cpu somewhat more and takes more time to start, but Winzip is able to open it.
Why use such an ugly program anyways :P

Excluded the skinpacks for now. Will get them up as additional zip in a few hours...

They are already available as a seperate download m8. And not sure why either I know Winrar and Windows itself could open it. Winzip 14 says not a valid zip archive.

Note: Downloaded the one without skins and winzip was able to open it just fine. Might of just been the stream the 1st 4 times I download :)

At anyrate hope all those who download it enjoy as I know there was a bunch of people asking me in game if I had a manual version to download because the updater would error and then those on the forums here saying they had issues. Walking people through troubleshooting those issues got hectic.

Is this the new site where to download the profit ui files in case of installation probs with the updater ?
http://updater.pala.de/aio.php

If yes, there seems to be a problem with this page. If you click it, it says: Error 404, object not found.

As I said, a vicious circle, when your Karma wants you to have issues you're going to have issues regardless of what you do, lol. :D

Link works fine for me btw.
