EQ maps launches but doesn't appear tied to EQ2

This is a new laptop (my first) and it would not let me install eq2 to c: or c: program files or c: program files 64bit). It installed it in "C:\ProgramData\Sony Online Entertainment\Installed Games\EverQuest II\LaunchPad.exe"

EQ2 launches ok but eq2 maps doesn't appear to be connected to the eq 2 program. Here is the error message:

Error Opening Database File: mscorlib

at System.IO.Directory.InternalCreateDirectory(String fullPath, String path, DirectorySecurity dirSecurity)
at System.IO.Directory.CreateDirectory(String path, DirectorySecurity directorySecurity)

You need to go to options and set the path for Everquest2.exe to the proper directory. You may have to go to folder options in the control panel to get that program data direction to show up, as it's a hidden folder by default. To get it to open EQ2 properly from the updater, also set the second browse to LaunchPad.exe in that same path.

Also run the EQ2MAP updater as an admin.

Thanks for the fast response. I went to options and re set the path to the proper one "C:\ProgramData\Sony Online Entertainment\Installed Games\EverQuest II\LaunchPad.exe". (same one I had before)
Tried it again, got the same error message. Also another window popped up with this message:

Warning
There was a error getting latest version info:
The remote name could not be resolved:
'maps.eq2interface.com
ok

When I close that warning another pops up:

File Error
Failed to Save config file:
Access to the path 'C\Program Files (x86)\EQ2MapUpdater\eq2map_config.cfg' is denied.
ok

I had downloaded the full game, nothing was installed from discs. I do have the discs with me now, do you think I should re install the game or do you think the error is something else.

I find it odd that it won't let me install the game to whatever place I want. On my desktop and every other desktop I've owned, I had the game installed to c\:program files.

When I tried to set second browse to launchpad.exe the Stationlauncher folder has another folder in it called main. When I open main, it's empty. no files in it.

It would not give you an access denied message if the EQ2MAP updater was running as an admin.

As for the could not find file message, try clearing the cache and then the re-download all files button in options.

As for your original problem of not being able to install into program files... not sure again there, most likely a permissions issue. Do you have multiple user accounts on your computer, with some of them not full administrators?

Ok, I have a question about this. How do you set a program to run with administrator privileges? I mean, do you have to right click and run every single time? Or is there another way to make it remember to run as admin, as Im getting the failed to save error. I am going to try running as admin now to see if that solves the save issue.

Thanks!

1. Open your C:\Program Files (x86)\EQ2MAP Updater(I'm on a 64bit system) 32 bit system's don't have the (x86).
2. Right click EQ2MAP_Updater.exe select properties goto the Compatibility Tab
3. Check the box to run as admin
4. Apply and OK

That should solve your problem with always having to run as admin
