Unable to launch the application
Could someone plz help me with this. I have never been able to get the auto-updater installed from: http://updater.pala.de/. I have always just done manual install as a result but I don't think the manual install is updated anymore so I wanna get this going.
I click 'Launch' Java loads and I get the error window saying 'unable to launch the application.' Under details it has this info: Exception: com.sun.deploy.net.FailedDownloadException: Unable to load resource: http://updater.pala.de/profitui.jnlp at com.sun.deploy.net.DownloadEngine.actionDownload(Unknown Source) at com.sun.deploy.net.DownloadEngine.getCacheEntry(Unknown Source) at com.sun.deploy.net.DownloadEngine.getCacheEntry(Unknown Source) at com.sun.deploy.net.DownloadEngine.getResourceCacheEntry(Unknown Source) at com.sun.deploy.net.DownloadEngine.getResourceCacheEntry(Unknown Source) at com.sun.deploy.net.DownloadEngine.getResource(Unknown Source) at com.sun.deploy.net.DownloadEngine.getResource(Unknown Source) at com.sun.javaws.Launcher.updateFinalLaunchDesc(Unknown Source) at com.sun.javaws.Launcher.prepareToLaunch(Unknown Source) at com.sun.javaws.Launcher.prepareToLaunch(Unknown Source) at com.sun.javaws.Launcher.launch(Unknown Source) at com.sun.javaws.Main.launchApp(Unknown Source) at com.sun.javaws.Main.continueInSecureThread(Unknown Source) at com.sun.javaws.Main$1.run(Unknown Source) at java.lang.Thread.run(Unknown Source) Wrapped Exception: java.lang.NullPointerException at java.net.SocksSocketImpl.connect(Unknown Source) at java.net.Socket.connect(Unknown Source) at java.net.Socket.connect(Unknown Source) at sun.net.NetworkClient.doConnect(Unknown Source) at sun.net.www.http.HttpClient.openServer(Unknown Source) at sun.net.www.http.HttpClient.openServer(Unknown Source) at sun.net.www.http.HttpClient.<init>(Unknown Source) at sun.net.www.http.HttpClient.New(Unknown Source) at sun.net.http://www.protocol.http.HttpURLConn...Client(Unknown Source) at sun.net.http://www.protocol.http.HttpURLConn...onnect(Unknown Source) at sun.net.http://www.protocol.http.HttpURLConn...onnect(Unknown Source) at com.sun.deploy.net.BasicHttpRequest.doRequest(Unknown Source) at com.sun.deploy.net.BasicHttpRequest.doGetRequestEX(Unknown Source) at com.sun.deploy.net.DownloadEngine.actionDownload(Unknown Source) at com.sun.deploy.net.DownloadEngine.getCacheEntry(Unknown Source) at com.sun.deploy.net.DownloadEngine.getCacheEntry(Unknown Source) at com.sun.deploy.net.DownloadEngine.getResourceCacheEntry(Unknown Source) at com.sun.deploy.net.DownloadEngine.getResourceCacheEntry(Unknown Source) at com.sun.deploy.net.DownloadEngine.getResource(Unknown Source) at com.sun.deploy.net.DownloadEngine.getResource(Unknown Source) at com.sun.javaws.Launcher.updateFinalLaunchDesc(Unknown Source) at com.sun.javaws.Launcher.prepareToLaunch(Unknown Source) at com.sun.javaws.Launcher.prepareToLaunch(Unknown Source) at com.sun.javaws.Launcher.launch(Unknown Source) at com.sun.javaws.Main.launchApp(Unknown Source) at com.sun.javaws.Main.continueInSecureThread(Unknown Source) at com.sun.javaws.Main$1.run(Unknown Source) at java.lang.Thread.run(Unknown Source) |
are you running it as Administrator?
|
Not sure how to check that? Just go into the Java directory and and check javaws preferences? I have UAC turned off on the machine and my account is the only account and it is an admin account. When I go to browse to C:Program Files (x86)\Java\JRE6\bin and right click javaws.exe it does not allow me to set 'Run this program as an administrator,' its greyed out.

Right click on the desktop Icon of the Updater
Choose Properties Compatibilty Tab At the very bottom theres a box tick that (run this program as admin.) :) |
the updater itself never actually installs, all I have is the html link in the downloaded zip file that points to http://updater.pala.de/, and the profitui.jnlp. Whenever I try to run the jnlp, either via the 'Launch' button or by clicking the jnlp file on my desktop, I get the above error.

ok how about d/loading from here
http://www.eq2interface.com/download...UIUpdater.html it self installs and just make sure u have java updated on yur computor :) |
I have been trying to troubleshoot this; and as it turns out I can not get ANY Java Web Start apps to run...tried a few of them and none work. Same error on all of them essentially. Been poking around for hours on the net trying to figure out how to get javaws to work.

would it be this ?
Note that local installation will fail if you have disabled the option in Java to store tempoary Internet files for some reason. To change this go to Control Panel -> Java, click on "Properties" at the bottom under Temporary Internet Files and make sure the checkbox in the top left corner is set. came from the FAQ Section for the updater :) |
Yeah I read the FAQ, and the checkbox has been checked since the onset... I am really stumped here. I can't figure out what is going on or why Web Start is not working at all. I am wondering if there is a service disabled that javaws may be dependent on.

I got it working somehow. Thanks for your time.

heh didnt do much really was just slinging some options yur way. Am glad its working tho.
