Splash: recv failed ( java / updater ) help!
 

i have never been able to get the updater to install no matter what i do.

I have installed the latest java in 64 bit ( running vista64 ult.) turned off fire wall and added all forms of java to firewall including the address for the updater but for the life of me i can not figure out how to get it to run on either fire fox or explorer.

when i test java at the java website it says im installed and working

would anyone be able to give me some hints on what my next step would be, have already tried complete un installs reboots and re install from website with exact same results.

Well I can tell you what your first step should have been - read the FAQ (last entry)! ;)

i did that too. re installed everything and as far as i know it was all done correctly .

ah ha ! my wife removed AVG and installed comodos anti virus ( i use avg for ant virus and comodo for firewall only! )
update:
I.T. friend of mine says comodo is corrupting a file not just not allowing it but actually corrupting the write process ( im not sure about anything else because he is jabbering about really technical stuff)
