Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage

This has been going on for about 2 weeks now. I would appreciate any ideas as Profit is a very good UI and it would be a loss to stop using it.

When i try http://updater.pala.de it does not connect, I have tried:

-Adding 85.214.17.144 updater.pala.de to the system32\drivers\host file
-Deleting the entire ProfitUI Updater from the user/appdata folder
-Uninstalling java completly and re-installing it
-Turned off router firewall, never use windows firewall
-Turned of virus software
-Complete reboot after doing all of those at the same time

Still the connection is refused at http://updater.pala.de

Thank you for any input you provide.

Remove it from your hosts file, you've got the wrong IP. ;)

Thank you gm9, that is twice you have responded to me and helped me fix my issue. Both times you were the only one who was willing to respond. You are a good person and I deeply appreciate your help and kindness.

I used the IP from the faq from the autoupdater issues, I guess that needs updated since the loader appears to have moved to a different IP. I checked it several times, that doesn't mean I got it right but it seems worth looking into.

IMO never add an ip to the hosts file unless you are constantly having issues with DNS servers from your ISP I have never modified a host file except when I was working for an ISP and even then it was rare we touched that file.

Glad I could help. I updated the FAQ also, thanks for mentioning it. As Papabeard said, take the hosts file workaround as a last resort if you cannot get the hostname to resolve otherwise, and we did not have any reports about any DNS issues in a long time.
