Map search locator
 

I havea small problem with using the map ,,,, i can not use search or find first 3 letters of location items on the map ,,,the only way i can find things is type loc and then i get a list of all items on that zone map ,,and even then i cant click that to find path i have to then type the map co-ordinates into the seach box ,,,,what have i dne wrong to have made this happen that you

I'm not sure what you mean by "location items" on the map. Are you talking about all Points of Interest (POIs) or just a specific type of them? If you're looking for just a specific type of them, you can always right click and choose to Filter POIs to remove all but the kind you are looking for.

If you're searching for a particular POI, do you have your search options set up correctly in the options window? You should have search by keyword unchecked and match word fragments checked, like this (image credit to gm9):
