How do I give auto updater admin priv on Vista 64

I havent used this or EQ II in a while.
I went to update, and it told me I needed to give the updater admin priv, so I gave all EQ II admin priv, and went and added my username and the admin account to the allowed list.
It still isnt working so I must be missing something.

(click Update)

Have you tryed to right click the icon and select run as administrator ?

You can't do that to the java file.

Well I'm in vista ultimate 64 bit and never had an issue running it. However if right clicking and running as an administrator didn't work.

Right click > Properties > Compatibility Tab > at the bottom, you'll see "Privilege Level" check "Run as an administrator"

Do you have multiple user account on that machine? Does the account your using have administrator privileges?

Is what's on your desktop (or wherever what you're clicking to start the updater is) a shortcut or do you have the actual .JNLP file there? You want the shortcut and to follow the steps mentioned in previous posts. You shouldn't have any problems running it with Vista 64-bit. I'm running just fine with Windows 7 64-bit.

If you're trying to run the updater by clicking the actual .JNLP file, you're going to need to uninstall the updater and delete that .JNLP file and then go to http://updater.pala.de/ to reinstall it.

That should get you going.

just disable UAC all together and then be smart about how you use your computer. You can search on google how to "disable UAC in Windows Vista", or just find the option in the "User Account" control panel. Note: This change requires a reboot.

While I cannot advocate the disabling of UAC (it's the tech support in me, and my knowledge of human nature)

Once you get the shortcut on the desktop you can right cick the short cut and run as administrator, which works (I have vista 64 home premium)

also re-installing the files should help as well (steps listed by Mayve)

I didnt even know it put something on my desktop. I just downloaded the zip file and clicked on the web page and then the button to launch. Works with right click on the shortcut now.
