Welcome Window - Temporary Fix

SoE added a new welcome window that pops up when you log in. With a default install of FetishNightfall, this window doesn't really work. Here's how to fix it.

Go to your FetishNightfall folder. Open the eq2ui_mainhud.xml file using NOTEPAD (don't use Word or any other word processor, use a text editor like Notepad). Go down in the file until you find these two lines near the end:

Code:

<include>eq2ui_mainhud_waypoints.xml</include>
<include>eq2ui_mainhud_windowsettings.xml</include>

Add this line between them:

Code:

<include>eq2ui_mainhud_welcome.xml</include>
so that it looks like this:

Code:

<include>eq2ui_mainhud_waypoints.xml</include>
<include>eq2ui_mainhud_welcome.xml</include>
<include>eq2ui_mainhud_windowsettings.xml</include>

Save the file. That's it. The welcome screen will now work.

Notepad using Vista

tried using notepad - Vista, but it won't save the file. States "cannot create the eq2ui_mainhud.xml file"

Is there something I'm missing?

Nevermind, duh, figured it out

different + better (imo) approach is to append this to your eq2.ini:

cl_show_welcome_screen_on_startup 0

The original post was about how to get the welcome screen to show properly in Fetish, not how to disable it. Yes, that works great for preventing it from automatically popping up every time you log to a character, but to actually get it to show up you still need to add the include per the OP.

that is totally true, but look at it, its just a nagscreen or an ad if you want to put it that way.

whats on it... merely ads:

- LoN
- station cash stuff

- server motd, gets put into the chat window upon loggin in anyways
- guild motd, gets put into the chat window upon login anyways
- friendslist, the list of friends that are online is put into the chat window upon logging in anyways
- the column whichs in the middle, i forgot whats there but... you get the picture

its ALL just ads and stuff thats present in your chat window anyways, i.e. its completely pointless to show it currently

You are welcome to your personal opinion, but that's no reason to derail this thread. :)

Agreed dagnabit. :) Regardless of what the window is supposed to do, I don't want it popping up on my screen with mostly empty black space. I like all the useless windows to render properly at least once before I close them for good and never open them again. :) Otherwise, how can I intelligently decide that the window is useless and that I'll never want to open it again?
