Profit updater

I had this all running sweet and happy with it until the day I got a problem in EQ2. SoE techs still responding to that, and another story.

I uninstalled EQ2 entirely in the hopes of finding a solution, so now re-setting everything from scratch and cant get the updater to work. I hit a barrier with:
"Firewall Setup
The updater (actually Java) needs to be able to access the following URL: http://updater.pala.de:443, make sure you do not block this connection at your firewall."

Now I hold hand up and say yep, I'm a nooblette at this sort of thing, but have tried everything I can think of. I did have a problem with Java but got past that with 6.11 file emailed to me as I couldn't d/l update it.

Sooooo..what am I doing wrong now? I have even tried to paste that url in and open it with 'Internet Explorer cannot open the web page, check your internet is connected' kind of message.

" Application Error..

Any constructive suggestions welcome

It means what I say in the FAQ, the updater cannot connect to its server because something on your end is preventing that, i.e. usually a firewall. You can see that it is not updater related from the fact that your Internet Explorer has the same issue.

You will need to find out how to allow this connection in whatever firewall solution you use.
