Night vision blinding me

Is there anyway to fix the brightness on night vision? I have tried changing the values in the misc file with no success. It was working perfectly before the change but now when i use it, it literally blinds me.

If you set AmbientMax to the same value as AmbientDefault in the txt then you effectively disable the boost I added to the nightvision. You may need to lower the AmbientDefault value from 0.3 if it is still brighter than you had it before. I set it to the game's default but you may have had it lower (0 is the lowest).

Nightvision

In mine the ambientmin was 0.3 and ambientmax 20. I tried a few numbers and it appears the the true game max is 1, for a range of 0 to 1. I changed ambientmax to about 0.7 and it looked good. Maybe 20 is a bug?

A max of 1 would make sense, however when I was testing it the max appeared to be at 20 (I'll test it out again as time allows). But in any case I wanted to set the maximum value, and it doesn't look blinding on my system. Maybe it's a graphics card thing, I'd be interested in a screenshot if you can be bothered.

Screenshots

Certainly. The shots are provided below. You're right, the max does go higher then 1, but 20 is too much for my setup. It could be graphics card related. I asked a few in my guild to try it out and they all reported it was way too bright except one.

This is the default, ambientmax=20

This is normal with Night Vision off, ambientmin=0.3

And this is what I like, ambientmax=0.7 although its just my preference, provided for comparison.

Thanks,
Leo

not sure if this is related to the changes made in nightvision but lately during game play my toons armor becomes faded. I have to reset between performance and quality to get the paterns etc to show back up. I've updated video driver and even restored back to older files but still have this issue. Seems distance shaders etc just fade out. Any suggestions as to what can be causing this or if its soe related.

The 2 looks are attached. It can occur after a death or just moving around it just all of a sudden fades out like this.

Thanks for the screenshots, Leodox. So I did a little bit of testing and it appears this is an issue only in certain zones where the /r_min_dir_ambient_intensity seems to affect only certain textures instead of the entire zone lighting. The Frostfell village is a good example where it appears to be completely broken, and probably your guild hall too. Other zones light up evenly and there it works fine. Unless I don't understand the parameter that's probably a game bug.

I'll test some more but will likely take up your suggestion to reduce the default max value in ProfitUI to something around 0.7.

Eowaubeth, your issue is not related, I wonder whether it may be due to the multicore or memory management changes SOE recently did.

I've been noticing icon blurring going on across all windows and all UI. It might be something to do with the the multi-core code. I'll disable mine and see if I still notice this annoyance.

yeah I found some info on SoE forums. Seems eq2 has a low mem mode it kicks into. So in December many started noticing blurs on textures. There is a switch for the ini file which I'm currently seeing if it works.
