Heres how to get your own notes in game folks.

step 1.
download the attached and extract the html file the root of your main hard drive (usually C:\)

step 2.
Enter eq2

Step 3.
make a macro thay says
/show_window Inventory.HTML (caps sensitive)

Step 4.
Click the macro!

Step 5.
Type in the address bar c:\notes.htm

tada!
The HTML code can be edited if opened with notepad (right click-> edit OR open notepad, the goto file open and find the .htm)
I tried to make it as simple as i could, for all those who are html illiterate:) very simple language tho, so ya can pretty much learn all ya need from that text.

The builtin HTML thingy doesnt seem to support images yet, its way gimped.
Good thing is it does support text:)

You can, for the most part, open this in internet explorer to see kindaaa what it will look like in game.

Also you can edit the notes while in game...you just have to do an ALT+TAB

Good find. Finally there is some use for the Inventory.HTML window. :nana:

Quib 01-28-2005 04:17 PM

Unfortunately it doesn't seem to like relative paths (\ui\customuifolder\notes.txt for example).

Also, it's Inventory.HTML, not MainHUD.HTML.

So write the notes in a very very simple HTML file then it can be used in a window in game?

So this could somehow replace some of the neat tooltips you've got. We could have a Foraged Nodes HTML and a link to HOs and stuff?

Quib 01-28-2005 04:24 PM

Small rpoblem, EQ2 seems to be write protecting my notes file after I open it in game; in other words, once you've opened it, you can't edit it 'til you've closed EQ2.

Let me know if others have this problem.

Quib

tonyis3l33t 01-28-2005 04:41 PM

i could do it...just gotta close the Inventory.HTML window first.

nah..i like my tooltips still...faster reference:)

woops thanks for the typo report quib :D

I downloaded tonyis3l33t_HTML.zip Unzipped it into my custom UI folder.
Logged into EQ2 Created my macro to open the windows.
Than I D/led the notes zip file. Unzipped it to my c root directory. Opened it up with notepad copied and pasted some text below this line in notepad
^^thats a line break, enter just wont work with html

hit the macro and opened the HTML windows type in c:\notes.htm and nothing came up.
I than tried typeing in www.eq2interfaces.com and nothing came up.

Tried looking at the code and it is all gibberish to me. I use to mod EQ1 code all the time and could understand it. The EQ2 code gives me a headache. So I got frusterated and gave up. Going to upload my custom UI i have compiled for you to look at maybe something is conflicting with it. I deleted all my dds map files from image\map folders do to files size. Thanks let me know if you have any ideas. I just want something so i can view a text file to have a quick reference to see what spells i need to buy for future upgrades.

Thanks

you can give this a try, wasnt able to test it myself, but notice the file extension is .html instead of .htm

tonyis3l33t 03-19-2005 01:35 AM

try disabling your custom UI...use the default one. I doubt thats it but its worth a shot eh? :)

ALSO try c:/notes.htm or c:/notes.html (switch the \ with a /)

drkknt2k's notes dont show up because he got the caps wrong. :P

Your file being broken is one thing, but www.eq2interface.com should work.
(heck, even the incorrect url of www.eq2interfaceS.com brings up something)
/show_window Inventory.HTML
mess up the caps and the window will show up, but typing stuff in wont do anything

tonyis3l33t 03-19-2005 02:03 AM

well played insomniac! if that caps is wrong then NOTHING will work.

drkknt2k 03-19-2005 02:30 AM

That did it.
Thanks Insomniac.
I would of never guessed that even if you typed the correct command that it would still bring up the window if the CAPS are incorrect.

Thanks Guys for the help :)
