My Updater Error
i get a message as follows
Exception thrown while checking file hash java.io.FileNotFoundException: C:\Program Files (x86)\Sony\EverQuest II\UI\ProfitUI\images\chat1.dds (Access is denied) at java.io.FileInputStream.open(Native Method) at java.io.FileInputStream.<init>(Unknown Source) at com.twmacinta.util.MD5.getHash(MD5.java:763) at de.pala.updater.IO.Filesystem.checkFile(Filesystem.java:122) at de.pala.updater.Arrange.IO.checkFile(IO.java:168) at de.pala.updater.Files.checkFiles(Files.java:75) at de.pala.updater.GUI.Main$UpdateThread.run(Main.java:738) What shall i do? |
I get that now an then when I reinstall to get the latest code. Normally I would find that the updater would create a directory named like the file instead of an actual file. Deleting the directory and updating would fix the issue.

I updated now like 20 times in a row and I can't recreate this. Actually I would say it is nearly impossible that the updater would create a directory instead of a file as it requires two completely different commands for that.

/shrug, It's happened to me twice once was a .txt file in the info center and the other was two of the font files. I thought it odd myself but /shrug I have seen computers do odder things. Being java is managed code there is no telling what happened.
Here is the exact error message you get when you try to update after it does it. Exception thrown while checking file hash Code:
java.io.FileNotFoundException: C:\Program Files\Sony\EverQuest II\UI\ProfitUI\fonts\Highspeed.ttf (Access is denied) |
I've never seen it happen, but in case it does the error message is expected. Windows file system management cannot handle two entries with the same name in the same folder, even if one of these entries is a folder itself.
