saving current UI config

I have had several computer crashes while running EQ2...most of the time when I reboot and bring up profit, all my hot bars and chat windows are gone, with just a single chat window and hot bar are showing. Is there some file or directory that I can save (manually) that I can reload in case this happens again?

Thanks for any help.

The client should auto-save your UI settings (window positions and sizes, subscribed chat channels, that sort of thing). Hotbar assignments (which things are in which box) are, AFAIK, stored server-side instead of being saved in the client. If you've crashed hard (ie. had to reboot the machine via the reset button or power switch to recover), it's possible that the writes to the filesystem got lost. There's nothing the game client can do about that, it can't save anything if the OS decides that data didn't get written to disk. The only thing that helps with that is using NTFS which is better able to recover from hard crashes without losing data.

/save_uisettings will force the config to be saved to the default file of server_charactername_uisettings.ini which normally gets written to on zoning, and such.

You can also /save_uisettings custom_file_name.ini to save it as you want it. I like to do this, and then set the file as read-only so I have a solid layout to use for all my characters.

Using /loadui also makes chat settings hotbar placements go wonky. So /load_uisettings is help for that.
