dont have everquest2.exe - its playthefae.exe
i got a new computer and the only place i could find the launchpad downloader online to download everquest2 to my new hard drive was thru the play the fae trial. once i got the launchpad from the trial, it downloaded the entire game to my active subscription account (i clicked use existing account rather than create an account when prompted and logged in with my existing account). the only issue is eq2map seems to key on the everquest2.exe file which is not in my system. it runs through playthefae.exe and attempts to link maps to that bogus trial .exe file have failed. i tried simple stuff like renaming it to everquest2.exe or deleting map and downloading again but there's nothing my computer illiterate self could come up with. am i just outta luck or is there a trick to this? thanks folks

If you run playthefae.exe do you end up at the patcher or ingame?
If you can't get it to work try this installer. http://download.station.sony.com/pat...eq2/eq2-us.zip |
I started the game with the trial thus was running "playthefae.exe" all this time.
I have no problem with eq2map running with this setup even the first time when the installer starts up it prompt where the "eq2.exe" file is. I just select the only eq2.exe file that the prompt display and continue the setup and let the installer run. During the map update phase, you can either stop the installer and click option to change the the settings there to suit your needs before the actual update. Hope this helps :) |
I too have a similar issue with downloading the installer. When I click on the Icon from my desktop, it asks me to "Select Your EverQuest2.exe file". O/S is Vista ~ and in the bottom of the box it has File name: (blank box) and to the right of that box is EverQuest2.exe I have the RoK expansion and not to computer savvy, but enough sense to know how to download stuff =) Any help would be greatly appreciated.
