UI effecting frame rates

I am new to EQ2 and play on a crappy laptop.

I have found that the UI has an enourmous effect on the graphical lag when I play. To be exact the Unit windows (player, group, target, target of target) seem to be the biggest offenders along with the buff and debuff pains.

I can vastly improve my performance by setting their opacity to 0 and just mousing over them when needed.

I don't have a clue why this is but in my ignorance I suspect it is the rate at which they update themselves.

Would a minimulistic UI with a slow refresh be possible or is that out of the realm of what SOE has made possible with custom UIs?

Thanks in advance for reading and considering my questions!!

Check to ensure that the graphics card built into your laptop is compatible with the game. Either way, SOE tech support will offer no help since they don't officially support laptops.

As for your question, we don't control the 'refresh rate' but it sounds like you may have an issue another poster had, where their card did not support the shaders the game uses which was giving them a great deal of graphical lag.

Try this

Turning off "smoothfonts" is a really useful lag remover .

Good luck m8

Thank you both!

The graphics card in my laptop is not supported and is a really low end buisness model card.

I will try out the smoothfonts suggestion.

Thanks again.
