Milquetowst Info Center trouble

I have used the Info Center before without any problem, but after I upped my memory to 2G and installed a NVidia 8400GS vid card, whenever I install the eq2ui_journals.xml, I default to the standard ui. If I remove it from my custom ui folder, my mix and match ui works fine. Any ideas? I am out of them myself.
Thanks, Dave

Have you modified any of the files? Getting the default UI means that your custom UI is broken somehow.

You were right. I changed 2 note files using MS Word. Loaded the standard ones and it worked fine. Thank you. Now to figure out that problem. Going to try using Notepad, not MS Word.

Anytime you're modifying XML you want to stay away from editors that format text (like MS Word). They add some information to the file that you don't see when using it but it essentially breaks the file when the game tries to load it. Any 'broken' custom UI files causes the game to load the default UI.

I recommend notepad for basic editing, but if you start to do a lot of editing I recommend EditPlus.

Did you save the note files as ASCII txt files? You can attach them here if you want us to check them out.
