Problms with this UI and 8600gt?
Hey,
i have always have used profit ui and it worked fine on my old system eq2 didn't tho lol so i upgraded and i have a 8600gt and now when i log into eq2 i get all lil lines across my screen and flickers of colors and weird artifacts, it doesn't do this in any other game i play like bf2, bf2142, css, crysis, vanguard ect just wondering if any1 else is having a problem and any suggestions on how i can fix it.. thanks |
I doubt very much that this is a ProfitUI problem.
Maybe the resolution is too high for your monitor or your refresh rate is too high for your monitor. I would look at the Sony EQ2 forums and see if others are having problems there. |
yeh i forgot to add it doesn't do this with the default UI in eq2
|
I think i've got what you've got.. but I'm using an 8500gt
here are a few SS's ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() yep happens often enough, normally when the card heats up and or at high strain. I'm not sure whats happening either =p but it looks nifty sometimes and minimizing eq2 then bringing it back up seems to "reset" it. edit: using an 8500gt needed to verify hehe |
yeh thats what happens to me execpt i get lil dash's across my screen which i have to reboot my machine and it also happens on the splash screen aswell

forgot to say it only does this when i start eq2 sometimes it doesn't do it at all and my game runs perfect. so iunno its weird
|
mine does it throughout runtime, at least it is slightly humerous
|
Yep...you just have to uninstall the 1960s Groove mod... :)
This is definatly a problem with EQ2 and your 8500gt. EQ2 is a demanding game and as Triscuit said, this looks very much like over heating or overwork for the card. Using ProfitUI instead of the default UI will increase the demand on the graphics card, but it is not the cause of this. I would suggest that you double triple check you are using the most up to date drivers and keep on checking for updates as there may be one that fixes this. And also check the official Sony EQ2 forums to see if ohers have this problem. |

Probems like these are usually down to 1 of the below.
1. Overheat. which i agree with others is the most likley problem. 2. drivers corrupted 3. card not seated correctly 4. PSU insufficiant wattage or failing under load easiest thing to do is check the GPU temp. get ntune or ATI Tools ( yes it does work with nvidia) :) get latest drivers, even try rolling back to older ones reseat card, make sure to push in all the way home psu is the harder to diagnose, try running some stress/stability tests. other than those, cannt think of anything else Oh, and finally Go back to XP, god i hate vista P Good luck, and hope it helps |
My drivers are not corrupted, I do have the latest installed, have run several stability tests, and there is no way my card draws more then my psu can push.
My card peaks at 56C which is quite warm, and is by my guess the most likely cause for this to happen, haven't had the time to install a new cooling unit but that is my guess. edit: Never will vista be found on my machines /cringe... |
check your memory...
|
Yeh i actually took my vid card back where i got it from and apperently i got told there isn't enough thermal paste between the gpu on the card for the 8600 series or something so i think its just a case of buying a new card for me like 8800 i guess
|
if it was a memory issue i would have had problems with other processes, and this has only started occurring with this new card, i can pop in my really old 6600gt and be fine for 12+ hours of eq2 running, soooo.....
|
Well you didnt say you say you swapped video cards and didn't have the problem and no you might not notice a memory problem under normal processes as eq2 can use up too 100% of your installed memory. And had you said you swapped cards i would say then its obvious you have a problem with your video card. return it or call there tech support like the guy above you.
