How do i save my own custom graphics settings?

I noticed thre are 3 spots to save your own custome presets graphic settings, but they won't save. They reset every time if i select another graphic setting. How do I save these to my own liking?

There should be a .exe included for saving profiles - the PerformancePanel mod I use has one - you can only save the profiles from out of game.

Full instructions for every item within the ThorUI AU

Just look under "Advanced Features" then click on the "..." button next to the feature you have a question about.

Playing Devil's Advocate here, Faetyl....

I'm not sure about anyone else, but the Custom Preset .exe I have don't work. The icon for it (both in the thorui\#Custom Video Presets directory as well as the shortcut that was loaded into the start menu) look like the kind you get in a non responding browser window. And all it does for me when I try running it is open up a command/DOS prompt window (without the actual prompt to type at) and an underscore character jumps around randomly within the window until I try to close the window with the X in the top right corner. That then prompts a Non Responding error dialogue box to pop up.

I'm sure you're gonna ask or recommend doing so, so I'll say it right now.

Yes I have tried deleting the subfolder and re-running the AU to pull fresh copies of the files, but still no go.

I have this problem too, actually.

Haven't given it much thought before but since my server is down, I might just a well inform you of it.

Everything else is working perfectly.

Same as Lazaru5, I have tried to "reinstall" ThorUI, but it doesn't work.
I have not, however, tried to install the original custom preset from the original creator (can't remember his name right now).

Perhaps something you should have a chat with him about, Faetyl? If he's still in the buissness that is ;) .

Ah yes, I remember now.

The AU or something with the transfer is interferring with exe files.
I provided a replacement somewhere in the posts.
Let me do a search and link it here.

Here we are...

Use this by extracting then placing in the "Custom Presets" folder within the ThorUI

This mean I have to check the box: Do not update if local file is newer.

Or doesn't it?

ShadowProwler420 01-28-2006 10:59 AM

Odds are, you will need to have that marked, seeing the source that the .exe is being taken from is not from the AU's file source.

In my opinion, it doesn't really hurt to have that option marked anyway. That's just a fail-safe measure added for those that use other mods that are not included with ThorUI.

Lavandel 01-28-2006 11:53 AM

It's a shame though, since one of the big reasons I use ThorUI is because I don't have to "think" on my own.

If i check that little box, I suddenly have to keep track of updates to the UI myself.

Well. I guess you can't have it all forever

ShadowProwler420 01-28-2006 03:15 PM

Having that box checked isn't quite as bad as you may be thinking it is.

All it really does is prohibit the AU from overwriting any files in your UI directory that have been modified in one way shape or form to be different from what the AU distributes.

Example 1: The character select/shutdown window (eq2ui_mainhud_shutdown.xml)
Since this window requires the .xml for it to be modified in order to work (with your character names/servers info), having the 'Do Not Update' box checked will allow this file not to be overwritten.

Example 2: Using a mod that is not part of the ThorUI package
Let's say I found a pet window mod that I like, but is not included in the optional mods within the AU. This, like in the above example, will not be overwrote as long as I've got the box checked.

Both of the examples I've given will tag the files with a 'modified date' of whenever the file was last saved in that location. Thus, making the 'newer' in the AU's eyes.

Any other files that you do not modify or swap out will be updated whenever Faeytyl releases new versions of them.

Lavandel 01-28-2006 04:49 PM

LoL.. I know all of that... I just thought it was convenient to let go of all the thinking since the updater does everything for me.

I've been tweaking GUI's since May 18 2000 in EverQuest and no other GUI-tweaker has had this wonderful "service".

Anyways.. I tried out the new file provided and it works perfectly for me.

Magus 01-28-2006 11:46 PM

You don't understand though, it WILL still continue updating all the files, EXCEPT the eq2.ini file, so you can make your changes to that, and everything else will update normally.
