cant get profitui to work, i use japan region
many of my japanese friends have loaded this ui on their system without a hitch. Some say it takes as little as 5 minutes to complete including the eq2map program. I had a very difficult time and in the end got a crash that has caused me to reload the whole eq2 program. There goes Saturday just waiting to download and patch everything.
I'm hoping that if I list the way my files are loaded on my hard drive, that you could tell me exactly where to install everything in order to get this ui to work with all characters including where to install the eq2map program so that it works with the UI. C'\PROGRAM FILES\SONY\ \EVERQUEST II \STATION (2 subfolders under sony) *cache (*all subfolders) *Launchpad (*subfolder) *helpfiles *keyboards *layouts *logincache-us *LP_REGION_JA_JP (this is an additional folder to play on japan region) *MILES *MUSIC *PAKS *TESTSERVER *UI inside the "C:\SONY\EVERQUEST II\LP_REGION_JA_JP" I have these sub-folders. It is an exact copy of the everquest II folder CACHE HELPFILES KEYBOARDS LAYOUTS LOCALE LOGINCACHE MILES MOZILLA MUSIC PAKS TESTSERVER UI (*inside this folder are subfolders default and fonts) *default (has 3 sub folders and a bunch of eq2ui files) *images *sounds *tints - and a whole bunch of files *fonts there are also these files in the UI folder: [MOST IMPORTANT FILES] ZONE_CHARACTERNAME_EQ2_UISETTINGS <- all my character ui settings are here in the C:\SONY\EVERQUEST II\LP_REGION_JA_JP\UI folder assetslib.vpl binkw32.dll credits dbghelp.dll default_quickbuttons eq2 (icon) EQ2 (launcher) eq2_default eq2_recent eq2cmdhistory eq2imeinputserver eq2settings eq_logo32 eqii_commands eqii_commands everquest2 everquest2patch everquest2patch.log.001-009 gksvggdiplus.dll mylogin_characters (notepad file) hotkeys js3250.dll lp_options lp_sync well you get the idea, there are a lot of exe files in here an exact match of the main folder, but probably tailored for the JA region. I have downloaded the 2 required zipped files for your UI and have the eq2map program ready to install. I just need to know where to extract and put everything. edit - i have completely uninstalled/removed everything and am in the process of installing everything fresh. I have 3 hours and 24 mins of patches/downloads to go before I can even get to the login screen. sincerely Richard |
Good point, I should add that to the installation instructions for people like you using more than one language version.
If you want to use ProfitUI with your Japanese installation, please extract into ..\SONY\EVERQUEST II\LP_REGION_JA_JP If you want to use it with your US English installation extract into the ..\SONY\EVERQUEST II\ EQ2Map needs to update the ProfitUI folder. If you use both language version, you'll need to install it for each one separately (just as ProfitUI). Hope this helps. :) |
EXTRACT WITH WINZIP to ja region
Thanks for the quick reply,
So I should use winzip and extract all of PROFITUI 3.1.1 to: c:\program files\sony\everquestII\LP_REGION_JA-JA. and do I also extract profit UI subclass backdrops in the same way? Then, once this is done, I should see a profit UI folder in the LP_REGION_JA_JA folder and install eq2map in that folder? I have EQ2MAP-UPDATER-1.0.6-Setup saved in "my document" with the two other zipped files. Before I do this, I think I will make a full backup of the clean sony folder just in case. edit\ ok I unzipped the files into the lp_region_ja_jp folder. zip didnt work properly and just copied the files into a huge number of new folders. I had to go into each folder and move the files to the ja folder. Now I get the UI interface but cant use chat. I have chat windows but cannot enter text. <S> richard |
hi richard,
to fix your problem, right click on the chat window, goto window options, goto frame and titlebar. If it is already there, go to None then switch back to Frame and titlebar, I've had the exact problem and fixed it that way |
The EQ2Maps updater application should be installed into its own directory like any other program you install (not within the EQ2 directory). Then inside the options of EQ2Maps, you would specify the directory path of the UI you are using.
