Same Problem every time with Maintained Mods.

(Mellani is my character that i play as)

I'm having the same problem with maintained mods Ive used these 6 maintained mods:

SageUI Maintained

Arre30EffectsMaintained

Godattes Maintained Spells

Mother's Maintained Spells

Geniva's Profit Maintained Slim (Reversed)

Profit Maintained Spell Window - Lite (Modified by Kenshiro)

And the problem is this:
After a fresh UI Start (Deleting the runnyeye_mellani_eq2_uisettings.ini) When i login the mod show fine and alright but if i quit the game then re log the maintained window has totally vanished! It just disappears cant see it cant find it to right click it nothing this happens with every single one of those 6 mods the only way to make it appear again is by deleting the runnyeye_mellani_eq2_uisettings.ini but even if you do do that then it would just dissapear again after you quit then log back in!

Someone please help i really dont understand this at all!

Please Please Help!

Not sure why it would disappear but the shortcut for bringing it back is Alt+M.

F10 will cycle through three steps that toggle various UI settings...."Normal" view (any transparency/opacity settings are used), "Full On" (all active/open windows are shown at full view regardless what custom transparency/opacity settins are in place), and "Nothing" (no UI is shown, just game/world graphics).

Try going into the second view mentioned above. Perhaps that will allow you to see the maintained window. Then check the transparency/opacity settings on it. Maybe somehow/someway the settings on the window are being changed (which, I admit, is extremely peculiar....seeing that only one window is being affected and not the whole UI).

/shrug

Tooplex 02-21-2007 11:12 AM

Well this is odd its happening with the default Maintained menu as well! Ill try that F10 thing.

Tooplex 02-21-2007 11:15 AM

I tryed the F10 thing and like i said it has completely Vanished! Whats going off?

ShadowProwler420 02-21-2007 12:06 PM

Sounds like perhaps your maintained window found its way off screen. There is a setting in the game options that controls whether or not windows can be off the screen.

Tooplex 02-21-2007 01:07 PM

Tryed that its still vanished any other advice?

ShadowProwler420 02-21-2007 01:22 PM

Ummmmm..........uninstall/reinstall the game?

I know it's a pretty drastic measure to take, but I can't think of anything else at the moment.

:( Fine sadly

gm9 02-21-2007 02:20 PM

Reinstalling the game is not necessary!

To be sure that it's not your files delete the entire UI folder and also make a full file scan from the patcher (this will delete any interfering UI files you may have and also ensure that all your game files are up to date).

If that still doesn't help, if you want post your UIsettings here, I can then take a quick look and tell you where your maintained window went. ;)

I already have reinstalled just got to wait 2 and a half hours for it to patch ;) But if this doesnt work then ill go your way

Tooplex 02-21-2007 05:42 PM

Taking the piss i reinstalled it and it still has dissapeared! Im going to delete the Ui file and then try!

Tooplex 02-21-2007 06:17 PM

Ok Ive just tested something if i don't move the maintained window then it does not disappear but if i move it even one centimeter then it would disappear when i re log any advice? :(

Edit: And now for some reason Himays Target windows aint wanting to work! This is really pissing me off and making me want to quit EQ2 ive only played for 3 frekin days!

wolfling 02-21-2007 07:44 PM

The only things i can think of is to check options in
user inteface / game windows
Keep main HUD windows visible = ticked
allow windows offscreen = unticked

Also when you uninstalled / reinstalled, did you delete the eq2 directory?
As windows uninstaller usually leaves cfg files etc intact and could still be using those.

Another check, make sure no files are read only, prolly not, but worth checking.

If still no luck, then post the uisettings as per gm9, hopefully he can sort it out )

good luck.

Ill try that and what do you mean by Ui settings?

Edit:It didnt work it vanished again and ill say again what do you mean by Uisettings?

Edit 2:Ok i tested something what i did what install ProfitUI Reborn logged in then quit then reloged and found out the Maintained bar didn't disappear i really dont get why any advice and what do you mean by Uisettings?

ShadowProwler420 02-21-2007 09:14 PM

The uisettings file being referred to is your CHARACTER_SERVER_eq2_uisettings.ini file (mine, for example, would look like ulcifer_mistmoore_eq2_uisettings.ini) located in your base eq2 directory.

Until then use ProfitUI, as you said that works fine for you. :D

Laffs 02-22-2007 09:13 PM

Lol .. a shameless plug there GM9 ;)

Actualy I have had the same problem before and the only thing that fixed it was deleteing the char settings file... and that happend quite a while back not just recently I might add.. And at the time I was switching UI's other than my own, to try them first hand rather than look at code and pictures, When I reverted back to default and also my own I lost the maintained window.. I think maybe it just could happen from doing that in rare cases...

Either way deleting the char settings file sorted the problem for me at least.

Landiin 02-22-2007 10:20 PM

Look at pos $FD8E in that file. If you take that pos AND it with $FFFF then make sure the the value at the calculated pos is the same as the one at $FD8E. If it is not something is wrong because it has to be the same value.

(yes I've been looking at code to long, I'm losing it.)

Sorry Tooplex, ignore my rambling.. but being you asked; ($FD8E AND $FFFF) = $FD8E, thus the value at $FD8E is the same as the value at ($FD8E AND $FFFF) and if it isn't then there is a problem :P again ignore me, it's been a long day

gm9 02-23-2007 04:14 AM

Landiin, go to bed, you start to scare people here! :D (just kidding mate ;) )

Is that some sort of boolean algebra/logic?

Tooplex 02-23-2007 09:48 AM

>_< Any proper help would be thankful please i appreciate the rambling but im afraid im the one who has the problem here!

Laffs 02-23-2007 11:48 AM

Basicly what he's saying is if a certain 2 values dont match it's broken ;) so either edit the 2 values to be the same or just delete the file and set up your UI windows etc again from scratch.

I am a Japanese. I am weak in English.
I may not understand all posts of this thread definitely.
------------------------------------------------------
But I want to report it.
This problem is not a problem only for Tooplex.
I read two posts of the same problem in Japanese community at the end of the year.

I was not able to reproduce the same problem.
The solution was not found.

gm9 02-24-2007 05:34 AM

I may have some time later today to look at it.

With my UI I had some people that always lost the bottom stat bar and the problem had me wondering until someone posted his broken uisettings. We'll see.

gm9 02-25-2007 07:23 AM

Alright, finally managed to take a look. Unfortunately, your maintained window position is not even defined in your uisettings file. That happens if you never moved or manipulated the maintained window before.

So for all purposes, that file is fine and should be working, the maintained window should appear in its default position as defined in the maintained window .xml file. /shrugs

Thor's "useful" advice:

1.) Treat those who are attempting to help you with respect no matter how frustrated you are.

2.) Your issue; although specific with the "Maintained Window", you haven't narrowed the issue down. I would recommend you pick one maintained window and start troubleshooting from there. (Having lots of options is great but when there is an issue with them it's best to focus on one at a time...) Those attempting to assit you are left wondering where to begin.

3.) Steps to take to help others help you:
3a.) Pick one maintained window that you like and stick with it. (I've attached a version for you to try to this post)

3b.) Delete your "character's window placements file"
3c.) Log in game and ensure you can see the maintained window. (Don't move it yet)
While in game also ensure that "allow windows off screen" is disabled via ALT-O>User Interface>Game Windows.
3d.) Log out "camp to desktop" then log back in and see if the maintained window is still viewable.
3e.) Hopefully it is still viewable... Now's the time to try moving it... Move it then log out "camp to desktop". Then log back in and check on the maintained window.
3f.) Post your findings here in detail and also attach the maintained window you chose to use and your character's window placements file.

4.) We'll see what we can figure our from there.

Remember: if it gets to frustrating for you, just use the default interface for the time being. (Just remeber that you should delete your character's window placements file if you decide to do so.) You can always just move it to a backup folder for later...

Seems these fine people (other then me) are trying to help you but I guess that's just my opinion.

So I'm going to start over and hold your hand while we go through this.

1. You said it is doing this with the default ui?
2. You said you have deleted you uisettings.ini file 10 times?

If you answer yes to Booth of the above questions do the following.

1. Delete every file that has _eq2_uisettings.ini in its file name from your everquest directory.
2. Delete eq2.ini
3. Delete eq2_default.ini
4. Delete eq2_recent.ini

Start EverQuest2 via the patcher. Once you are in game cast a maintained spell/skill. See if the maintain window shows up then. If not make sure the spell/skill is in effect, you can tell by the spell/skill being darkened.

If after all of that doesn't work, I don't know what to tell you, other then open up a CS ticket with SOE.

So what help to you think I can give you by inspecting a uisettings file where your window hasn't yet disappeared. Thanks for wasting my time. /boggle

Well .. I found a toon I had on another server that still had the very same problem.. and just deleting its settings file and using the default maintained window worked just fine, then I placed in a custom maintained window and it all worked without a problem, logged in logged out etc etc
