Looking for different in game TELL sounds
i know i saw an optional TELEPHONE RING sound file for ingame TELLS somewhere, but i can't seem to find the link anywhere!! If anyone could maybe tell me where to look in the eq2 folder for the tell sound file, i could probably just replace it with my own sound.. i can't seen to find the tell sound file either!! i've looked and looked HELP.. i keep missing my tells because I don't hear the little bubble sound!!
thanks for your time :P :p |
Take the sound file that you wish to play, and rename it to
ui_tell_receive.wav Then place it in (EQ2_folder)/UI/Sounds |
Off topic but your Artwork is very impressive

this works fine for me
everquest2>UI>CustomUIfolder>sounds>ui_tell_receive.wav |
aye, when you want ANYTHING custom you are not supposed to use the default ui. anything you ever customize should nest in the customui folder you create yourself. treat this sound change as a mod. You have to make a eq2.ini and all that jazz.
|
Odd. My Chest Drop sound works in EQ2\UI\Sounds fine... (It should be noted that it's UI\Sounds, NOT UI\Default\Sounds.)
|
/PULLING MY HAIR OUT!! still can't get this to work,, i thought maybe they have to be under 5k.. but NOPE that's not it! i put the renamed file in to the sound folder of my UI ( MINE) i pieced together from here. I know i'm doing it right so any suggestions?

OGM i was trying too hard. FInaly figured it out! doesn't go in your personal UI folder. It goes in the main UI folder that holds your different UI's in a folder named SOUNDS like the one for FONTS!!! :nana:

Is there one for when you die?
|
Nope. However too_far is not used, or at least that I can tell. After I find a good enough sound byte, I will be adding that feature to OericDeath. I dunno how comfortable you are with xml editing, and I suck at explaining, so i wont try =)
|
It is. Usually you hear it when you cant reach something, like a node on a tree, a ? bugged or a bell too far to click (it is a really dull sound with 2 notes)
|
ooooooooooh
So its not *your target is too far away* its *You cannot reach that* |
Only works solo not in grp

I too am not hearing chest drop sounds (group or solo) at all since I added
ui_chestdrop.wav I have tried it like this.... C:\Program Files\Sony\EverQuest II\UI\Sounds & like this... C:\Program Files\Sony\EverQuest II\UI\myui\Sounds I hope someone out there might be able to shed some light on what I have done wrong. P.S. I have changed several of the other custom sound files & they all work, but not the chest drop sound. It's very frustrating :( |
Solo I hear the custom chest drop sounds no problem. It is ONLY when I am in group that the custom chest drop sounds quit working. And it does NOT matter if all grp members are in same zone or in different zones than I. Simply, in grp, no matter where, chest_drop sounds do not work (if I customize it). Solo, they work perfect!
And the same for me, only the chest_drop customized sounds give me problems, but it does work when I am solo. All other custom sounds work no matter solo or grp. |
I'm having the same problem with a custom "tell" sound.
*root*\UI\Sounds\ui_tell_receive.wav I get no sound at all. does the .wav file need to be a certian b-rate or sample rate? EDIT: That must be the problem, because I just swapped out wav's and now it's working. Here are the specs for the sound bit that works. Size: 289kb B-rate: 1411kbps Sample size: 16bit Channels: 2 (stereo) Sample Rate: 44khz Format: PCM |
Ok noob here,
I wish to make a whole slew of sound bites for various actions in the game to match the personalities of my guildies, but I have a few simple questions that need answering first: Background -- I use a conglomeration of different UI mods, everything from parts of Fenix Arcane, EQ2Map, to Fetish&Goldi, so that could be messing me up somewhere. Currently the only “Sounds” or “Sound” folder any way affiliated with Sony are the ones in the user’s UI folders, in my case that would be “Default” and “Fenix”. As for the list of .wav files that can be modified… can’t seem to find them either. As I read above if we want to add sounds just rename the new desired .wav file to the corresponding names from the list posted above, and place it into the newly created: Everquest II/UI/Sounds folder. After doing this for a few different .wav files I had no luck. So I tried placing them in the already created “Sounds” folder located in my custom UI folder “Fenix” as well as the “Default” UI folder also with no success. I am using sound bits from the website that Miss Aprilmaeshowers posted along with several other home made sound bits, none of which seem to be working. ERROR, could you please briefly explain how to make or edit a .wav to the specifications you discovered? Is there a free download or will I need to purchase software? Would you happen to know if that ability comes with the SoundBlaster audigy 2 ZS by any chance? Deathbane27, am I totally screwed up because I didn’t already have a “Sounds” folder in my “UI” folder, or must I create one and start placing the renamed .wav files into it causing the pointers to grab from there instead of wherever they grab from now? Aprilmaeshowers, wow, that is some amazing artwork you’ve done…amazing. And here I thought I was “artsee-fartsee” with my custom made EQII button, pfft. |

Other wierd thing is, in group or solo, my custom tell and recieve sounds all work. T'is only the chestdrop that does not work in grp. |
LINK
according to this dev the correct place to put custom sounds so it effects all is EQ2>UI>DEFAULT>SOUNDS. Try putting your sounds there. |
Quote:
That did NOT work. When placed in this folder, all I get are default sounds in group or solo. The sounds must be in root/ui/sounds. WHen they are in here, they work perfect solo. They also work in group EXCEPT the chest drop one. This one stops working period when in grp. If solo, it works again. |

Thank you Nox but do you think ERROR is on to something with the proper .wav format?
