Quick Macro Button Configurator
Hi gm9,
first of all, thank you very much for such a great work. i am trying your new version to modify my buttons, but nothing happens. Excel 2002 SP 3 is telling me something about a compiling error in a hidden module: QMBCform Even Excel 2007 will not work. Do you know anything about it? Or is it my fault? Read your faq, but clicking on the spells name and then the red button delivers the error message. Thanks in advance. TT |
Are you on Vista? This sounds like the issue reported with Excel 2007 on Vista, but it may well affect all versions of Excel.
|
Sorry, forgot to tell you.
No, i am running on XP sp 3. |
Hmm. Had you tried one of the previous versions before and did you have the same issue?
|
Sorry for that, but the answer is no, due to the fact, this had been my first try changing the macro buttons.
Do you have a adress to download an older version? If needed, i will send you my e-mail per pm. Greets, TT |
I don't think previous versions will change something, I just wanted to make sure. It probably has to do with SP3 for XP, maybe they changed the same thing with it that also breaks it on Vista. If I can get my hands on an XP SP3 with Office on it I'll see what I can do, and eventually I was going to make the tool into a standalone but that is even further down the line.
Until then you are probably out of luck unless you can find a different machine/OS to make the changes on, sorry. |
Hi gm9,
tried it with openoffice 2.4 on xp sp3. Nothing happens there, either. :( Thanks for your answers. Greetz, TT |
OpenOffice will not work since it is incompatible with MS Office VBA scripting.
|
Hi there,
thx for the info. Tried it on XP SP2 with Excel 2002 SP3. Same error message as in first post. Do not know why, because the 2 computers have different installations. Greetz, TT |
I'm getting the same error on XP2 SP2 and Excel 2003

Do you guys maybe have Virus Scanners that block VBA code or something? Grr, why did I ever have the bad idea to write this tool in MS Office VBA... |
Hi gm9,
thx for the new version. Short: Nope. Long: Same error message as in first post, even with deactivated Virusscanner. Using Antivir Premium. Greetz, TT |
An other problem could be your security options for macros inside Office / Excel.
Depending on your settings no unsigned macros will be run. Even without asking / waring you that there are macros that are suppressed. Try to check your options for macro security. Best would be to set it to medium (ask you every time). |
No, no optional office/VBA components should be necessary for the code. Outside of office, it is calling shell32.dll, ole32.dll and on Office97 systems it would be calling VBA332.DLL as well.
When I have a moment I'll post a version without all path selection code (that's the code doing all these calls above), maybe that's what's tripping it up on your systems since Virus Scanners don't like it or something like that. |
Macro Security is set to medium.
So, this is not the problem. |
Ok, little update.
Had finally time to test the new version on XP SP3 with Office 2007 SP1, both up to date. It is working... :nana: But i do not know why. Greetz, TT |
mmhh,
question: Configuring the buttons works, spells are casted, but the groupmessage ist not send. Anyone any ideas why? Greetz, TT |
gm9,
do you have any ideas, why the groupmessage is not send in configured buttons via the macro tool? Would like to change some with message. Thx in advance. TT |
I'll have to take a look at the code, been a bit busy these days.
|
Just take your time.
I am not in any hurry. :) Greetz, TT |
hey gm9 thx much for the work you do. one question though in the download section of the quick macro window it seems as though i should be downloading an application that is a macro setup tool...but all i seem to be getting is the .xls file and that doesnt do anything but give me errors when i try to use it. thanks in advance.
|
Yes, the mod is simply an Excel spreadsheet that sets the macro buttons in the group and raid windows in ProfitUI. Detailed instructions can be found here (in the FAQ in gm9's portal).
Not quite sure what to say about the error(s) you get when trying to use it, but it may help to have some idea as to what the error is saying. ;) |
the error i'm getting is
"Compile Error in hidden module: QMBCform" Xp pro svc pack 2 no antivirus software running and macro security set to low.... |
"Compile Error in hidden module: QMBCform"
Xp pro sp 2 smart doctor antivirus software running and macro security set to medium |
so anyone have an answer as to my little compile error i'm getting? I've tried redownloading the macro config app and restarted my comp and still same thing...thanks in advance
|
Not working for me aswell. But i dont get a error message, simply nothing happens when i hit the big red button.
|
I currently have no answer and no time to search for one, sorry. Of course you can also configure all macro buttons manually as explained in the FAQ.

Please test

Could you guys with the compile error do me a favor and try each of these two test builds of the tool and see if they work? The first one is only slightly changed, the second one has completely different code for selecting the eq2 path (you have to browse to and select everquest2.exe). That's the only thing I could think of that might cause an issue on Vista.

Have Tested
Hiya gm9, great work on your interface mod ,it really rocks!
Now regarding those 2 test zips and the original, and having replaced the spreadsheet each time, i can say that all 3 of them dont work for me, but the thing is.. I get a different error to the ones mentioned before. I get Compile Error in hidden module: SpellTable when i click the big red button that saves the selected spell line for each of the 3 tests I use Excel 2003 in Windows Vista |
Hi gm9,
if i klick the red button in the Quick Macro Button Configurator v1.2 i get an error message (Compile Error in Hidden Module: QMBCform). But your 2 test builds are working! Using Vista x64 and Excel 2003. |
I know i am coming late to this party but I just downloaded the compiler this morning, got the QMBCform error and followed this thread. I wanted to add my results in case you were still interested.
I have XP Home Ed. w/SP3, and Office 2000 no SP's Both of the test versions you linked above worked so far, at least they opened the form with no error message. :) Thanks for all your fine work. As a newer fish in this big old pond I think it is wonderful how much creativity and assistance is out here. |
just wanted to chime in, I too was having the compile error and DLed test1 and works just fine, thanks for the work around
|
Thanks for the feedback (although with all the downloads the files had I would have expected more of it). I released the new version with the code that was in TEST1 above.
