ProfitUI Updater Connect Failure
 
With RoK's release today, I went to run the ProfitUI Reborn Updater and it's returning:

Cannot connect!
Please check your network settings or try again late.

Do you want to change proxy settings?

Yes or No

I've been using the updater for months now with no issues and my network and internet connections are fine. Problem started just today when EQ2 servers came up with RoK update and no other changes to my system, or settings. I do not run with a firewall, so nothing to disable there.

I also noticed several other users are reporting the same issue in the non-forum comments you can add to the main ProfitUI Reborn Updater page so this is not an issue specific to me.

Edit at 7:01PM: Adding the ip address for the updater to my hosts file did not resolve this and as said above, I have no firewall enabled. My system hasn't had any changes (nor even been rebooted) since the updater was connecting fine yesterday, so literally nothing has changed.

Yep same here, we also downloaded and installed the new 1.9 version with the same results.

My best guess is that the server is just overloaded and busy atm.

I am having the same problem as well. I agree with Brown that the server may be overloaded atm. I am going to try back in a while and if still not working I will install the manual one.

I have been having this issue since a couple updater versions ago. gm9 and kaldran told me it was my settings (yet every other internet related thing works fine), but it only works sometimes.

Same problem here. I'm guessing the server is overloaded atm. I'll just have to try it in a little while I think.

The Updater is temporaly down. But you can still download the actually version of Profit UI under http://www.eq2interface.com/download...tUIReborn.html

It works when you delete the 3 files then. I have no problem. So you dont have to use the updater right now for the fixed Profit UI.

If u r going to say u can do it without the updater then plz provide instructions

How did you update Profit UI when there was no auto updater? ;)

Follow the link above, download the Profit UI 4.3.zip. Unpack the file. There are other ordner inside the downloaded zip file. Go in the profit ui ordner copy all the files in there, go to your Sony Ordner most time c:/programm/Sony/EverquestII/ui/ProfitUI and paste all the files in this ordner (which were in the zip Profit ui folder). Owerwrite everything.

After that delete the files which gm9 told to delete:
"Please delete eq2ui.xml, eq2ui_mainhud.xml, and eq2ui_mainhud_achievements.xml from your \ProfitUI folder, these files are no longer part of ProfitUI and not compatible with GU40"

Thats ist. Start your game again.

After i updated my profit ui manual and deleted the files i have no longer problemes with them.

No need to use the auto updater in this case :)

And by the way, if you see the big red DOWNLOAD button on the right side, theres a button "How to install (faq)" too ;)

What are the three files to update the updater? I know how to download and install manually but if my updater needs to be fixed I want to fix it. cos it still does not work at 1130 PM EST on Nov 13 2007.

Webserver crashed for no obvious reason. I actually got noticed, but already was in bed and just hoped that it would restart by itself .. seems like that did not work :P

HEHE, Come'on Kaldran, You and I know that never happens unless you get up and set down at the computer to fix it, then it magically fixes it self, other wise it sets and waits for you to move.

Well I guess it's obvious what happened, everybody tried to get their hands on the files at the same time and the server couldn't handle it. The userbase has just become a little too big. Eq2interface.com seemed to have the same issue for a while.

PS: Or Kaldran just pulled the plug before going to bed like he does every night so dragowulf can't get the updates. :p

Actually it is not that obvious. It _could_ have run out of memory on the initial burst of connections, but then it usually just drops connections randomly and floods the error log. Since it is not running a stable version anyway, I would call this a random crash. I did benchmark it several times before it went live and it can handle a lot more connections than now (around factor 15 to 20).

I also get status reports every morning. Today they came in way too late. Guess something went wrong while rotating log files. Cant check that right now since I an at work and cannot access the internet from my place...

Well in that case I guess it was just bad timing. But also we never before had so many connections on the server in such a short time. By far.

So should I continue to sit here and keep trying the updater over and over or does it not work?

I already deleted the files, etc. per a previous post but still can't access in game mail, HP/PP bar, etc.

They updater server is up and running again since this morning, you can use the updater just fine. Alternatively you can always get the manual download from this site.
