So you were able to play with the thorui at some point?

If that's the case, perhaps you have an issue with the custom preset options.
Try running EQ2Settings.exe and reseting to defaults.
If that doesn't work, backup then delete eq2_recent.ini best way would be to rename to eq2_recent.bak

Sounds like you have a corrupt merchant window or you are using anothers mod for that.
Delete the thorui folder and relaunch the thorui au

Yeah tried it - exactly the same error as before using the auto launcher. Is there anyway to just run the UI once in the game? does /loadui <name> work? Did try that once but the UI didnt seem to work properly. Is there an ini file to use?

We'll have to work through this issue via yahoo messenger or VOIP
I should be available Monday night PST if you have time.
Send me an email with what time works and if you can use TeamSpeak, yahoo, or msn messenger.

Been away for a while, so I read all posts about your UI Thor....

I followed all instructions, but somehow after installing and choosing what features I wanted...I loaded game and still getting default UI. Any idea what I am doing incorrectly?

In my directory under Program Files, Sony, Everquest II, UI there isn't a ThorUI there?? Could that be it?

If I can't get it resolved I hope to catch you on TS and you can fix it via VNC. LOL

Thanks a bunch,

Jev

Hi...make sure that in ADVANCED you have the correct path to everquest. If that is not correct, ThorUI tends not to go in the place you'd expect it.

That's the AU trying to grap a file and unable to get to the file server. If it get's this far it is looking for a server lock to see if it should proceed. Sometimes Faetyl's server gets cooked (45GB of traffic...wonder why? ).

Try again in a little while and see if it works for you.

One thing...did you see the small web page at the bottom of the Auto Update screen? If you can see that it means that the server is probably fine...

My spellbook is a white block with no visible buttons. Spell icons are visible. I have to blindly mouse around to find "close", "next", "tradeskill", etc.

Also, in the EQ2 Button window, the display control buttons are now white squares. One icon in my Inventory window (next to bag-button) is also a white square.

Have already re-installed Thor with no luck.

Lastly, how do I access the UI control panel to make changes? I do not see any ThorUI AU files in the Thor directory.

Great UI, keep up the good work. :)

Run the auto-updater and hit the cancel button (before or after it runs its file check, it don't matter. Even though you'll need to rerun the scan for it to auto-launch anything). Hit the Advanced button, and you will see the Features tab. This is where you can make changes to any of the files used in your UI.

Faetyl 10-17-2005 08:46 PM

Reinstall probably isn't needed.
What is needed though is for you to browse to your "\EverQuest II\UI" directory and delete the thorui folder.
Launch the ThorUI AU and is "should" pull all the files down for you.

Let me know the results.

Still can not remove the extra chat window. This what I have done so far - Ran the window wizard about 6 times during the time I was troublshooting the problem. Removed the UI.ini file and started EQ2 to creat a new ini file. then used uiswitcher to change to new UI. still had the problem. Then removed your UI, removed the ini file started EQ@ and created new ini file. Downloaded your UI and tried it again and still have the extra chat window.

Not sure if your problem is the exact same as the problem I had....I had a small extra chat window that showed up next to my main chat window. All I did was drag the "bad" chat window into my main chat window, then selected the "bad" chat tab, and deleted the "bad" tab, and it hasn't reappeared since then.
My "bad" chat window appeared after I created a window just for guild chat one night. When I was done, I closed the window but the next time I logged in it reappeared. I tried closing the widow, logging out, and logging back in numerous times but it kept reappearing. Finally I did the drag, delete, and relog and that fixed the problem. Hope it works for you.

petitions do not work with the Thorui loaded

if I exit the game I can post a petition or post a comment but if I have your UI loaded it will not let me search for information and therefore I can not do a petition. If I have a petition I can't post a comment.

Sounds to me like you have a corrupt help window. Try deleting the eq2ui_mainhud_help.xml file and rerun the autoupdater. If that don't work, you could always wipe the entire ThorUI folder and get a fresh copy of the entire thing.

We thought it best to not delete files from your computer ;)
After unchecking/deselecting a feature, simply delete the thorui folder and then re-run the AU

You can look at the mods before selecting them by clicking the "..." next to each feature.

I have tried this twice now and the LoadMap option is still coming up in my UI.

Any ideas here?

Thanks and great work,
Zed

I done that every time I log in. But it keeps coming back.

Faetyl 10-20-2005 10:17 AM

You should have 2 "thorui" folders.
1.) The ThorUI AU program location "C:\Program Files\thorui"
2.) The User Interface location, usually "C:\Sony EverQuest II\UI\thorui"

When you select/check a feature, the program checks to see if you have the feature files. If you don't have the file or the correct time stamp version of the file, the ThorUI AU will download it again.

Therefore when you wish to stop using a feature you must perform to actions.
1.) Run the ThorUI AU program and deselect the feature you no longer wish to use. (Be sure to click "ok" all the way back to the main page then click update.) It may be a good idea to close then relaunch the ThorUI AU and double check that the feature you unchecked is still unchecked.
2.) Delete the feature files. If you know what files you need to delete you may manually browse to the User Interface location and delete those files. If you're not sure of which files to delete you may simply delete the thorui User Interface folder (Location #2 above) then relaunch the ThorUI AU program and it will redownload all files.

The exact file you would need to delete in order to remove the "Load map" feature is "EverQuest II\ui\thorui\eq2map\plugin_4.xml"

If you delete the file make sure you look closely when you run the ThorUI AU.
If it redownloads the file again, the feature must still be selected.

Hope this helps,

Faetyl 10-20-2005 10:37 AM

Window placements, chat settings, and so forth are all saved in your window placement files.

If you delete the one for your character its impossible for it to come back.
Just remember your window placements are saved when you leave/exit/logout of EverQuest II.
So if you delete the file while you're in EverQuest II then log out, you will be saving the same information you just deleted.

Your window placement files are in your EverQuest II directory and should look something like this...

UNREST_faetyl_eq2_uisettings.ini

Note: Format for each character is
[SERVERNAME]_[CHARACTERNAME]_eq2_uisettings.ini

Steps needed to delete window placement files are:
1.) Make sure the game is NOT running.
2.) Browse to your EverQuest II directory. Usually "C:\Program Files\Sony\EverQuest II"
3.) locate the [SERVERNAME]_[CHARACTERNAME]_eq2_uisettings.ini file for the character you are having an issue with and delete it.
4.) Log into EverQuest II with the character and the game will automatically create a new window placement file for that character IF you make any change to the window or chat structure. If you don't make any changes it won't make a new file for you.

Use the "Window Wizard" provided in the ThorUI AU to setup my prearranged settings. Just make sure your not in game when you do this. ;)

taco-man 10-20-2005 07:48 PM

peallen42 10-20-2005 07:57 PM

i see advanced when i 1st set it up, then i tryed to download updated file and, restartes the AU. The restarted AU doesnt show advanced button and text is show your commands and everything:

I also use Nividia as well. I also seem to be having this same issue with the AU screen being cut off and not showing the "advanced" and other buttons as well. I have checked my windows display and it is currently set to "normal" font, not large. The only time I am able to get the advanced button to apprear is by: deleting the AU; reistalling; selecting the "advanced" off the old version of the AU before it updates to the new one. I also have the same issues with eq2maps. However, their buttons don't dwell near the edge of the window, so it is not a huge problem. Is there any advice you can recommend since we both use Nvidia? TIA :)

Right after I posted my last reply, I scrolled up and saw Taco-man's reply. It works. Needed to go into "control panel" -- "display" -- "setting's" tab -- click "advanced". On that screen it will give you the option of changing your DPI. Mine was on 120 which didn't work. However, as Taco-man put it, 96 is right on. EQ2map even displays properly now. Thanks again Taco-man.

Yep...that's right, the font settings in windows can drive us programmers nuts becuase there is no easy way to predict what will happen inside the UI. If anyone is having trouble seening the advanced button you'll want to check your DPI *AND* your font settings in your video card drivers. Setting these back to normal will almost always fix display problems.

Why has the map window suddenly gotten strange?

Maybe this is something having to do with Update #15 that hasn't been resolved, but my map window has changed, and not really for the better. The grid effect is gone, and that I don't mind, but more important is the fact that on many maps a number of icons have disappeared, and on the maps that have all their icons, the icons are much smaller than they used to be, like maybe 2 pixels across. It's very hard to mouse over them now. Are there some settings I need to change, or is there just an issue that hasn't been fixed yet concerning the latest update?

Help / Petition Window Issue

Visually everything looks fine and when I attempt to send in a "ticket" I get the message stating that my ticket has been received. However, the window that shows all open tickets never shows anything. I can hit refresh but nothing ever shows up. I used to have 2 in there and now I don't. I saw earlier in this thread someone was having a problem similar to mine and the suggestion was made to delete the eq2ui_mainhud_help.xml file and run the updater and I have tried that but with the same result.

I suppose Sony could be just ignoring me :p , but aside from that any other ideas??

Thanks for your help...

strangness with guild xp bar

I have noticed several times I have did writs and turned in status loot that the guild xp goes down instead of up. I have talked with ingame GM and they say that the status loot system is working fine. I have research just about everywhere trying to see if it has to do with faction but found nothing. So now I am trying to see if it is a SOE not communicationg with thorUI guild xp bar correctly. Please let me know anything this is becoming annoying, not the UI thats fantastic, the drops in guild xp. thanks :(

Faetyl 10-21-2005 07:38 PM

Mine is working fine.
Recommend you try again to see if perhaps they had an issue thats now resolved.
If it still doesn't work...
Do the typical, delete the EverQuest II\UI\thorui folder and redownload all UI files

Let us know what your findings are
