Deselecting EQ2MAP from settings make the program hang at "Please wait. Removing: EQ2MAP". At least on my work computer which needs to use a proxy (and the proxy code does not work), not sure if that is related though.

And each time you try to exit it adds an additional ": Closing ... " text to the window title, but it does not exit. :)

ROFL, you just don't know..

I had like 5 random strings it would put,

HELLO! I said, I'm closing..
Ok, Ok, I know already..
Fine, keep it up; I'll never close..

ect..

I believe I fixed it where it don't keep adding closing.. but I'll check and make sure.

I'm still looking it to the proxy issue, not a high priority ATM though. I've never dealt with them and assumed that just adding the proxy info would work, but like the saying goes.. assumptions are the cause of all .... ups.. or something like that.

What socket and type is your Proxy at work?

I've made a test app just for you;p

enter a URL to a file, web space etc and press the get key.

It saves the file as TestFile.html in the same directory the app is ran from. Below the progress bar is a status text, that should tell you what is going on with the connection.

Your trojan ...erm... proxy test app works fine. If you have the same code in the companion then the bug is somewhere else.

OMG! it was detected.. lol

Yea it is the Same bat code, same bat umm channel don't really fit:/

But I did find what was causing the error through. So hopefully the next build Proxy support will work.

Build 1.8 Change Log:
  • Proxy support should be working now. gm9? :P
  • Addressed issues reported from 1.7 build.
  • Lots of internal things that I don't care to list.

I plan on implementing the ability for the user to add script to the Quick Char Switch. This will allow them to execute script before camping to the selected char, such as changing UI, client settings, etc..

All the test on Group/player click to cure and raid click to cast proved successful.

All thats left really is documentation... OMG any one out there that likes to write?

Found 2 bugs :ROAR: :mad:

AV on Exit if Interface updates and if a UI is set to auto update it always updates no matter if it needs to or not.

Just whose idea was this project anyways? :P

  • Interface: It now checks to see if you have the UI set to auto-update and if you have it excluded.
  • Fixed some AV error while closing forcefully.

whats up with EQ2MAP file: map_adv03_mystic_lake.dds? It's MD5 always returns false when the local file is compared with the host file.

FileList reports:

This is just after a fresh download with the file missing(not that it mattered, just deleted it just in case).

Does this file demonstrate the same behavior in the standard EQ2Map Updater? I don't have a copy or use it, so if one of you can test it on it, that would be grate.

jnils is this the one file you kept getting downloaded?

The EQ2MAP model is always no matter what updating the file map_adv03_mystic_lake.dds. After it downloaded it 3 times, I deleted from the images\map directory and it downloaded it like it should. How ever when I ran the map update again, it redownloaded map_adv03_mystic_lake.dds.

I looked at what the server said the MD5 was for this file, then seen what the MD5 for the file was on my hard drive and they did not match.

Yes, Server MD5 for this one is wrong, standard updater is having the same issue. I get the same local MD5 as you do.

Maybe this file is twice on the server, e.g. .dds and .DDS, and the server is checking the wrong one?

Strange, this is the same error i got 2 weeks ago, told Dolby and he fix the MD5 , have been ok sinse.

So there is someting strange whit this file, works for me but not you :confused:

Edit: Tryed to delete the file, still works for me :)

For me the error only ocured if i made a new install or deleted the file.
The new file that was DL diden't match the MD5. Dolby corrected it :)

The file must have changed again :confused:

Well it looks like the new station launcher is open for beta at http://launcher.station.sony.com . When using eq2 companion it bypasses the station launcher and goes to launchpad. Anyway we might have a check put in to use station launcher? Its much sexier then launchpad :)

Yea, I downloaded it this morning before going off to work. Looked at it for a bit, but kept getting time out connecting to server from it. I didn't have my reg scanner on when I installed it so I'll have to hunt to see if there is an easy way to detect where it is installed.

Shouldn't the script that makes the filelist be getting it's MD5 from the files it is severing? The script I made that generates eXtreme's update filelist; scans all the files on the servers eXtreme path and generates the files list and MD5 of each file in that path dynamically when a file has changed. I just assumed EQ2MAP did something like this but after seeing this I am taken it that it pulls all this info from a database.

probably the same way the ProfitUI patcher works - MD5 is calculated client-side when you upload the files to the server and then stored in a database. If your upload goes wrong the MD5 will not match.

Oh I hope not, that is a poor design IMHO but to each their own. I upload files, run a script that calculates file MD5 and builds the file list all from the DIR structure on the server.

Hehehe, tell that to Kaldran. I had actually suggested building the list server-side via php or something but I guess it was easier for him to code it like he did. Also makes you more independent of where and how you host it though.

Actually I think it would be poor design if the file upload goes wrong and you build your filelist with the broken files. That files would be pushed to the users. If I precalculate them client side this can not happen, since the downloader just throws away files not matching.
Well, guess both designs are poor in their own way :P

Ok, I have totally lost track of bugs :P

What is still being problematic? The only thing I have on my list is Proxy support and pressing X on the opening dialog allows you to continue.


Questions; (These are to anyone that feels like answering, not just beta testers :P )
  1. Should a account username & password field be added to the quick switch data? I know gm9 uses this info in his UI, I've always shied away from that, but really in the end it is the users choice to supply it. If you all think it should be there I'll add it.
  2. Should I move the Run Application list out of the EQ2 tab and into it's own tab?
  3. Should I beg someone to write documentation because I just absolutely hate doing it?
  4. Should I get more sleep at night and quit fiddling with things and just release it.
  5. Should I quit my job and become a professional bum?

Ok, here are a couple thoughts.

1. You should take out "Run App List" from the Everquest II tab. You should make it it's own tab.
-----a. Make an option under settings or the "Run App List" tab that uses the same behavior as how the everquest launch works.

-------(Ex: if "Run with the Everquest 2 launcher process" is checked, than when you click cancel all, it will cancel the the Everquest 2 autolauncher [as normal] and it will cancel the applications that would of ran as well, but if it is not checked it will run as normal and when you click cancel all it only cancels the everquest 2 launch but not the application launch and will still launch those)

if you get what i mean, if not ill make you a screenshot.

and....

2. You should make a bullet box to pick either the new station launcher or the old eq2 launcher since it's in beta and coming out soon

And some thoughts on the password question: I'm actually a bit paranoid computer security wise (having some history myself of getting into other people's systems for fun when I was younger, so I know how easy it is) and my systems are certainly better secured than most. However, I never really understood why storing the eq2 login data makes many so nervous. Yes it is the user's decision, but in any case if someone can locally or remotely access the user's computer to read the EQ2 password that user has far bigger problems anyway. It's not like in that situation he could not as easily get rooted or at least have a keylogger installed. Many people probably have their eq2 login stored in their browser anyway for easy forum access - far more likely to get it into wrong hands like that than by writing it into some XML on your harddrive. And again, just by providing that option you are not forcing anybody to use it. Just my 2c...
