Independent togle of poi's
Yes i know, its been mentioned, but it still hase not been implemented, i would realy like to know if sony has any intention of alowing us to togle poi's independent of one another and show only the ones we whish to see. Right now we have poi's on top of poi's, and you cant see whats under them.
I feedback this every day, im sending in bug reports hoping it will be changed, do they have any intention of alowing this to hapen or not?? And if not is there somwhere in sony we can send complaints to to maybe get that changed. |

But remember, it takes time for SOE to get things changed like this, and also this kind of change would likely go in with a major Game Update, of which there have been none since TSO came out. Be patient. Live with it for now, and use the search function for finding the POIs you want to highlight. |
search function
with the mention of using the search (and i use it constantly, nearly as much now as i use wiki) a sugestion please, i find that you have to have a word in its entirety, any way to alow this to work on a partial basis, like searching for Ram'ini, being able to just put ram and geting all that starts with that, the more you include the narower your search results. right now using ram would come up with a blank field, makes searching kind dificult when your trying to second guess how its listed as a poi. thanks.
on topic of togling the poi's, i feedback soe constantly (every day actualy) what i realy want to know is do they intend to let this hapen, is somthing in the works, whats the plan. And also, searching is nice when your looking for somthing specific, but ever try to just take a look at the poi's that are around you in certain areas, some are very hard to see, and some you won't even know are there because you can't se them, this is a needed change. thanks for your reply, will keep asking in game for this, hope to se it soon. |

QUOTE] This can be done, open ingame Options/UI settings/Map and you find some options to change , there should be one for partial words. |
in the dropdown list on the website vault & chelsith are listed under kj instead of jw. also, emperors athenaeum should be there too

Thanx
Fixed :) |
I like having a "clean" map without all of the icon clutter, but hiding the POI icons from the filter also removes it from being found in the Search box for the side listing.
Is there a way you can implement a toggle that hides certain types of POI icons, but still have it enabled in the filter? That way I can Search, and it would give me the X on the map at least. |

Hello, I've recently started playing again and using the hell out of eq2map. it's amazing how many POI's the community has been so generous to submit and share. (lame that SOE sorta stole some of our work...but compliments the same)
Anyways, everything is great I'm glad to see how the team has helped hold it together and improve it over the last 5 years...i know that it would be possible to do this so imagine with me: In the updater there is a filter of sorts like 1. "Only download mob POI lvl ___ and up" 2. "Only download quest information lvl ___ and up" That would eliminate some clutter...not all or even most. This would also require a small addition to the website's database to include a field for the level for everything. At the same time a few other fields could be added like heroid true/false and im sure much more. By doing this you can filter the POI's that you download therefore limiting what is displayed on your map and in essence the same as is asked about above. If you need to do a one off and find a lvl 3 quest you can hit the website. Comments, concerns, suggestions? i have a habit of ranting, sorry |

We have a theoretical way to filter POIs on the client, but due to the way the new map window is constructed this means we would need to attach UI code to every single POI to make that work. Since you noticed the number of POIs we have that would blow up the POI files in size by a lot and we did not really want to do that now that SOE provided one way to filter POIs.
While the variant you propose with filtering on the server would avoid that issue (and I guess bandwidth issues could be reduced by having the updater cache all files and add/delete them dynamically to the UI folder as requested without needing to redownload), but as lordebon mentioned, since SOE said they intended to provide a way to link POIs to quests, we are kinda waiting for how this is going to be done (probably something like a questID), as it seems to be the superior solution. You can find our discussions on this in the team forum btw, you should still have access. :) |
Good luck on getting SOE to do any thing to do with the UI any time soon. They can't even keep their database server from spazing out in US prime time when BG is turned on. I am quite sure Rothgar will have his hands full with these issue for a quite some time now.
*edit* After reading rereading that it kind of sounded like a bash... It wasn't meant that way, just that they have their hands fully with server and game issues for some time to come imo. |
It's really only a problem if your zoomed way out on a large map since the poi images don't scale with the zoom. However if your looking for a POI the search feature works great. I really haven't found the need to filter or toggle POI's. Also if your zoomed in the clutter isn't bad.
I have a lvl 90 pally, lvl 80 conj, and a few low levels I play with and never had an issue finding the POI I need. I guess the question to ask is it really worth the hoops we need to jump threw due to the way the current map system is? |
i just realized that it'd be great to have a search for zone feature on the website...especially since they're sorted by area and theres so many now...spent forever just looking for butcherblock.

bg suggestion
first off, love maps.
One thing I'm wanting though, since I've gotten interested in bg's is raid numbers to numbers on the map, so the rest of the raid shows as 1-24 or something. I dunno if it's possible, or if it would step into raid window ui changing, or what, but I think it would quite useful. It's kinda late, and I didn't take the time to read alll the other suggestions, so I apologize if it's already been suggested and handled. keep up the great time saving work =) |

therefor I have a follow up question, when i added POI i was unable to view the map on this website, disableling adblock didn't help and i have no problem seeing other maps in website. therefor i wonder why i can't see it, do it need adding to website or is the problem in my browser/computer? http://maps.eq2interface.com/map.php?zone_id=552 |
Good good. The missing image was the same server issue as with the last map we duplicated. In the meantime this was finally fixed, however, should work now.

With the difficulties getting EQ2maps functional with the DoV expansion I have an idea!!!! Im sure that it could be incorporated into the EQ2map interface a button of sorts that (when EQ2maps is slow to get the POI sets input into its mod) swap SOE EQ2 standard game map. At least this way peeps would still have a relatively good map to travel by instead of the INKBLOT appearance of EQ2maps without any POI.
Just an idea..... Thanks EQ2maps people for all that you do |
/defaultui if you want to swap to default. The DoV maps should be in EQ2MAP now though.

I use profit ui so I wont have to use the regular soe eq2 ui... Profit rules and so does eq2maps... soe has no idea how to play nice with others.
The poi are not displaying in the DoV maps of eq2map... all I get is the generalized land masses of DoV areas... better than nothin but sure would love the PoI's to be able to navigate better. :nana: |
Feature Request
EQ2MAPS Team and Contribuitors,
Thank you so much for your hard work on this great app. This makes my gaming time much more productive and enjoyable. EQ2MAPS Devs, The only thing that is missing for me is an easy way to update both my EQ2 Live and my EQ2 Extended installs at the same time. I currently run it every day that I play on my EQ2 Live install and then every couple of weeks, when I play with my kids, I change the path to update my Extended folder. |

At more of the entry level is simply keeping the folders synced. For this, Microsoft has a free application called SyncToy, you can find more about it at it's webpage here. A more advanced option is you can use symbolic links so that your EQ2X maps are basically a shadow copy of your regular EQ2 maps. There are tools that integrate right into windows explorer to simplify the process. As long as you don't go crazy with them they're pretty safe: you'd basically delete the maps folder in your EQ2X install and create a symbolic link from there to your regular EQ2 install maps folder. Then every time the EQ2X client looks for those maps it looks in your EQ2 folder where the link is pointing to. A tool thats available for that is the link shell extension which allows you to do this via right clicks just like creating new folders in windows. The main benefit to this approach over the synced folders is that you only end up having one copy of the files, meaning less hard drive space taken and instantaneous updates to the version EQ2X is using (since they're pointing to the same files). |
Menu Buttons?
Some great ideas posted here. I was wondering if it would be possible to put a legend of sorts on the map to shut off certain POI's. For example, if all I wanted to see were quest starters, I would select quest starters and the other POIs would disappear. There's so many POI's on the maps now that they overlap each other and the maps are getting really full. Would that be possible?:D
|
You can basically do that already. Right click the map and choose filter poi. Then check/uncheck what you want too see.

New Restored High keep Guild hall Map
Would be really nice if someone made a map for the guild hall Restored High keep. I have found maps of the guildhall on websites.
http://www.eq2designgallery.com/rest...uild-hall.html Maybe the link of the maps might help someone out. Thanks in advance if you get it working. Poopalots of Freeport. |
We allready has these maps as they are ripped from here :)
http://maps.eq2interface.com/map.php?zone_id=781 I would like to know if the texturing and look in game is the same as in the zones above ? |
would it be possible to change the icon of heroic monsters? Currently the heroic monsters and the nameds are showing up as red "dots" ingame. that makes it a Little hard to see where nameds are on the map.
Also on the web side you can choose what kind of Entrance to the next Zone it is, like door and so on. Would be possible to change those icons as well ? |

If you use default EQ2MAP Heroic and Named should have different icons.
You can check the list i made of all current POI types we have. Not really sure what you would like to do with the zone icons. |

About the zone icons .. i Maldura for example i see green [^] and purple [^] for the zone in location. ash, destruction and bar brawl are puple. palace, x2 zone and Thalumbra are green. I hope i'm not misstaken :/ |
The Waypoint button was in the way and was hideous, the load map button just isnt fair and was done at the time just because we couldn't do it any other way...In a way you can thank SOE for adding height map changing for us, or else there would still be a load map button, but like 10 of them
|
Can you provide an option to change the map cursors used for waypoint X and the player's location red arrow to include ones with a black outline and slightly larger.
I've noticed especially with BoL maps they are hard to see because they are similar colours. It would be even better to have an option to pulsate the colour over time. |
how do i get my maps back to working. ever since BoL whent live i have had no PoI's or any way to put in waypoints i have unstalled maps alot an still nothing * i can't unstall EQ2 for diff reason with out having to wipe my harddrive
