Sounds like you might be using an out of date version of ProfitUI.

Download the latest version and you should be fine.

What I'm finding with this issue is actually a little worse than this.

Not only does the 0 not display when at 10, 20, 30, etc but when you are at 19, 29, 39, etc.. it will show the next highest number, for example if you have 19% xp it will display as 29% can get quite confusing.

Also, from a fresh install I can't get the little button bar to display, the one with the ProfitCC, InfoCenter, etc buttons on it.

I already explained that I accidentally put XP window variant 2 as the default in 2.7.1 (I'm very low on time atm so I haven't yet been able to upload a "fixed" release). Just extract variant 1 if you don't like it and you get the old way of displaying XP (which will still be incorrectly rounded). Variant 2 is more exact in a way, but I admit it needs getting used to. Both variants are explained in the changelog for 2.7 btw. :p
And just continue to /bug the XP rounding until SOE gives us back the unrounded data like it was before. :)

Ambrosia, I'm not releasing separate windows because I don't have the time to keep them all up to date. You'll need ProfitUI_styles (and have it referenced in eq2ui.xml) and the fonts + the folder images\fonts. If all you want is the open all button, why not just bind it to a key? (I know, just like the bags, some people prefer to click...).

Naruni, I thought I set it up so you can click on the target are instead to target yourself? Also, clicking the health/mana bars in the XP window will target yourself.

EMK, that's happening with all UI's. Usually hitting Enter or "/" or whatever your chat key is should make the windows reappear.

Taffu, I'm not sure what's happening for some of you with the bottom bar, but I explained a couple of (my) posts up how you can edit your uisettings to (hopefully) fix it.

Woops, sorry about that. I'll read more carefully next time. :o

I can only venture a guess. I'm thinking you made a shortcut to your desktop to use when you start EQ2. However, you didn't really make a shortcut - you actually moved (or copied) the entire file. This means that when the patcher starts it will scan it's current location (your desktop) and since you don't have the game installed there it will promptly go ahead and download *every* file the game needs.

Chances are that if you run the file that is in the location where your game was originally installed (and where you, presumably, installed the UI files) it will work a treat. I would delete all traces of EQ2 from your desktop folder and make sure I did a proper shortcut and not move/copy the entire file. :)

Ok got ya, thanks, Ill try it and see what happens

Thanks

Where are the character and server names stored for the quickswitch feature? I'd like to setup my toons, thanks.

Naruni 07-27-2006 11:07 PM

Thanks for responding GM9 I play in a style that I click the buttons on the hot bar are all in the same area, my group window is to the side of the 4 rows of hotbars and my player window is above the hot bars so i only have to move the mouse around in that area instead of going way at the top left. So it is convenient to jsut click my Health and mana bars in the Player window to target myself. I thought in some earlier the LFg, LFW, etc wasn't there and I guess I just got accustomed to clicking the player bar next to the target bars when I needed to target myself. I will make do, thanks for such a wonderful UI.

Oh I almost forgot when I select the title bar and frame option for the inventory window to get the paper doll view inventory. It resorts to the default inventory when I zone or log out and come back in do I need to clear a file or something for the setting to take hold?

Thanks again gm9

you need to edit the _ProfitUI_LoginData.xml file in the profit UI folder ... there'll only be one line in the file to start with
"<Data Name="CHARACTER" password="PASSWORD" server="SERVER" username="USER"/>"

just edit that line and make more the same underneath for each of your toons ... changing the CHARACTER, PASSWORD, SERVER and USER parts to your own details of course :)

Handy feature to quickly swap toons - personally tho, I wouldn't write those informations as plain text (without encryption) to any text files. But thats just me ;)

Greetings.

Started using ProfitUI 2 days ago (downloaded the one in the RebornII thread). Amazing stuff you put in there, congratulations.

Yesterday, I did the final timed part of the Riddle of the Vault, and noticed that the timer of the quest wasn't showing. My wife, using the default UI, had the timer.

I notice there is a patch about this for LU#25, but it seems to have broken again at first glance.

Thanks and keep up the good work!

Well, two thoughts on this:
  1. If you've got malicious software on your computer it doesn't matter that the file is not encrypted, since the program could as well read your keystrokes when you type it in.
  2. It would have to be a very specific trojan that searches for that file which only exists in ProfitUI.
However, if you're still paranoid, you can just leave the password field empty and type the password in manually each time (camping to characters on the same account won't need the password, anyway).

Hmm, thanks for letting me know, I'll take a look.

Ok, I've been fiddling around with the XP window a bit and it seems to work well (except for the SOE problem). However, I was wondering if there is any combination of fonts and window variants that is tailored for the Small Sans Serif font option? When I select that one the xp numbers are misaligned and cut off.

If not, no sweat, I'll use the normal fonts. I was just curious. :)

gm9 07-28-2006 10:29 AM

I refuse to believe that the small fonts settings impacts the XP numbers unless you also extracted the smooth fonts package for the XP window. :p

Make sure you have the bitmap fonts, those should be resistant to any font settings (because they are technically not fonts but images).

Right you are. I did have the smooth font package installed hehe. I'll give it a go with the bitmap thingamajig. :D

Edit: Yep, bitmap pack worked a treat. Thanks. :)

Thanks for the help with my UIs other problems, but one still exists. I can't get the bottom bar to show! I can't right click on anythin on the bottom area...

Ok, so after all that stuff was thrown onto my desktop, i threw it all in the recycle bin and reinstalled the game. Followed the instructions under the download button. Still doesnt work. I have the bobsui folder and everything. Im going to try one more time or I give up. Anyone know what could possibly be happening and I loved this UI. It is great, too bad it wont work.

Make sure the ui files are installed in this folder. The zip file you downloaded is set up so that you just have to unzip it into your EverQuest 2 folder and the files will end up where they need to be. Make sure your unzip tool of choice retains folders and subfolders when you unzip, though:

C:\Program Files\Sony Online Entertainment\EverQuest 2\UI\ProfitUI\

Also, make sure that the file eq2.ini contains the following lines (make sure the capitalization is correct):

cl_ui_skinname ProfitUI
cl_ui_subdir UI/

If you don't have a eq2.ini file, make one with your favorite text editor and put it in the root of your install directory. Like so:

C:\Program Files\Sony Online Entertainment\EverQuest 2\eq2.ini

Once that is done, take one of the ini files that corresponds with your resolution and copy it to the same place where you put eq2.ini and rename the file to match your character name and the server you play on. For example, if you play at 1280x1024 you take the file named ProfitUI_1280x1024_eq2_uisettings.ini and rename it like so:

server_charactername_eq2_uisettings.ini

And that's about it. If it still doesn't work then I'm not sure what I can do to help. Of course, if you don't have the game installed in the default location just substitute the above paths with the correct one.

Ok I did the eq2.ini file and just put Ui on the first line not Profit UI. And on the second text, you cant put any slashes, at least thats what it tells me. I put the eq2.ini file in the UI folder in the directory, not exactly inside the directory, is that right? And that seems all i need to know, thanks a much!

gm9 07-28-2006 11:39 AM

erm, if you had to create the eq2.ini you haven't extracted the zip correctly, because it is already included in there. :p

Otherwise all that Pixi wrote is correct, so don't try to change directories.

You don't have to rename the uisettings though, deleting your own is enough, the game will let you chose the correct one upon startup then.

Agacin 07-28-2006 11:47 AM

So I extracted the file through WinZip to the new folder in the Eq2/UI folder, is that right and is that all i have to do?
