I would like to add my name to the list of people that LOVE this mod. Thanks for all the hard work!
2 cosmetic changes: T5 Freeport Writs- The Writ "Nothing to Wash Out" from the Dismal Rage (Priests, North Freeport) is for Sootfoot Rockpickers not Sootfoot Peons as currently listed, and the writ from the Freeport Militia (Fighters, West Freeport) is for Bitterwind Pioneers and not Bitterwind Explorers as currently listed. Thanks again! |

Previous Comments (when I posted in the wrong folder):
The fact that you're only getting a black window suggests that something's wrong with your installation. (a) The "customUI" folder should be in the "UI" folder, along with the "Default" and "fonts" folders. (b) The "customUI" folder should contain the "eq2ui_journals.xml" and "eq2ui_journals_infocenter.xml" files, as well as the "infocenter" folder. (c) The "infocenter" folder should, in turn, contain a dozen files and a dozen subfolders. If that *doesn't* match the way things are currently structured, well, there's your problem. If it *does* match, we'll have to investigate further. Either way, just to keep the Powers That Be happy, please post any follow-up comments on the forum rather than here. -- Darryl Darryl, First, thank you for directing me to the right spot. Here is what I have: Under the UI folder I have a folder called default, fonts, LAFFSV8 (which I don't use anymore), and CustomUI. Under CustomUI I have your files; 2 .xml files and one folder called infocenter. Under infocenter there are 12 folders and a handfuo of .xml files. What I think I did to mess this up, when I first installed your UI, I think I installed it to the default folder, over writting one of the .xml files (eq1ui_journals_active.xml). I saw that was a duplicate filename and meant to back it up to a different folder before I overwrote it, but I believe I backed up the wrong file. Afterwards I figured out that I should have made a different folder under UI and tried to re-do the process correctly. But I am afraid that by messing up the default file I jacked things up a bit. Does this sound plausable to you? How (please Dear GOD, without reinstalling EQII, lol) can I get that orginal default .xml file fixed? Or does this not seem like the probably cause of the problem to you? Thanks for the assistance, Tiboan |
Hmm, it's not really possible to mess up your Default UI folder. The launcher checks all those files and fixes anything that doesn't match what the server has. What's in your eq2.ini file?

cl_ui_subdir UI/ I have also tried this: cl_ui_skinname CustomUI cl_ui_subdir UI/CustomUI I was a little uncertian about the skinname thing.... taking a closer look at it I wonder if it's suppose to be: cl_ui_CustomUI cl_ui_subdir UI/ Thanks, Tib |
I just tried this:
cl_ui_CustomUI cl_ui_subdir UI/ I got the same results. The window actually seems to work, it expands and minimzes. It's just completely black, I have check the mose over and normal settings just to be sure they were not an issue. Thanks, Tib |
You were right the first time, your eq2.ini file should read
cl_ui_skinname CustomUI cl_ui_subdir UI/ it is case sensitive thought so if your ui folder is actually called Customui or customUI the the above wont work, make sure the bit after cl_ui_skinname is exactly the same as your UI folders name. |
It is, I even copied and pasted for extra care.
EQ2.ini: cl_ui_skinname CustomUI cl_ui_subdir UI/ Copy/paste of the folder name: CustomUI You know, I do have several .ini files in the EQ2 directory. I have one for each of my toons. Example: unrest_lockal_eq2_uisettings.ini When I try to open these in notepad they are code and not regular text. I also have one for my account name_characters.ini which is regular text, but doesn't look to speficy any type of UI settings. I cannot remember of those character .ini were orginal or if they came from a different UI I tried once before. |
None of the character INI files have anything to do with the custom UI's behavior, nor (as was already pointed out) does anything in the default UI folder.

I do the the min button, but that is the only thing. No frame, no border. Not sure how to add my screen shot here, but it is a large black window. The black squard just ends, there is no defining border I can make out. But the little button in the upper left corner is there. I apologize if you feel I took you down the wrong path. I will defend what I said though, I think anyone who saw this would call it a large black window, lol. I have gone back and taken a detailed look at the window, and, with the exception of that button, it is a large black window. When I mouse over the button is shows Restore or Minimize and it does work. I have gone into the properties of the window and its set to show the frame and border, but that all I see.
How do I add a screen shot to this? The add image button only seems to ask for text. If I can find somewhere to post a picture and provide a link I will. |
Here is a link:
http://www.upload2.net/page/download...EQ2_000003.jpg If you click download file... then open with imager you will see my shot. If I click the minimize button the window will minimize. It looks exactly the same, no border, no frame, but the max button is there and it does show the Restore text when I mouse over it. I hope this link works, I choose the first thing I could find that was free. |
OK, that is truly bizarre.... I have *NO* idea why the minimize/restore button would be showing up and functioning, when nothing else, not even basic frame graphics, is being called or displayed correctly.
I honestly have no idea right now what else to tell you to try, as you've already confirmed that the "infocenter" files and folders are arranged as they should be, and that your custom UI folder is being referenced correctly.... Hopefully, I or someone else will be able to figure something out soon. -- Darryl |
I see a couple clues to your problem. You are seeing the minimize button so you're getting just a tiny piece of the eq2ui_journals_infocenter.xml file.
Quote:
Earlier you mentioned putting things into your Default folder. Is there an eq2ui_journals_infocenter.xml file or infocenter folder in there? If you see those you should throw those away since those are custom files. If that's not the problem, try deleting your CustomUI folder and your eq2.ini file and setting those up from scratch. |
I did have the infocenter folder in the default directory, along with the .xml file. I removed them and tried again with same results. I did as you said and deleted the eq2.ini file and the CustomUI folder. I reinstalled from scratch, I choose a different folder name this time, InfoUI.
Results: It's working ;-) I thank you for your effort/assistance and direciton. Takes skill to trouble shoot over the web. Thanks for your time, now I want to log back in and take a good long look at this info. Appreciate the help :-) Tib |
Hi Darryl,
Thanks for maintaining this great source of ingame information. Some updates/additions: I just noticed that the spell list for Wardens is missing the following spell (maybe others, I noticed this as a Sage, not as a Warden): 64: Trapping VinesAnother suggestion is to include the shrine locations for the "Words of Pure Magic" language quest. Ogaming's description is here. With respect to the already included "To Speak as a dragon" quest the description of the rune locations here is more exact and thus more helpful. On the faction rewards page you're missing all the ally faction rewards. A list of the title is here, although the Coalition of Tradesfolke ally title is incorrect on that list, it's actually Raketeer. I don't have a link to a list about the other rewards atm. |
OK, I finally updated the InfoCenter again. With the release of LU24, I really didn't have any choice. ;)
Updated "Live Update" notes to LU24. Well, duh. :D Removed T1-6 info from the cookbook, as it was no longer valid. (Updated info will be added as soon as possible.) I'll get food/drink recipes and stats updated as time permits, but hopefully, it won't take *too* long. Updated lists of harvestable items. Since fungi nodes no longer exist, and shrubberies yield a smaller selection of items, it seemed important. I should probably add notes somewhere about the new "multiple item" harvesting results possibilities.... Updated access quest info. Since so many zones that used to require access quests no longer do.... Made other miscellaneous corrections as pointed out by various users over the past month. I think I've fixed everything that was pointed out as being in need of fixing. (No XML changes.) I do have a few new things I want to add, but I decided to let them wait for now. I'll probably add them as I update the cookbook. -- Darryl (Milquetowst) |
bruiser
I noticed under the spells for bruiser you did not have the level 62 one. It is One Hundred Hand Punch: Launches a flurry of attacks that cause high damage to the enemy. If any one attack misses the series stops at that attack. ;)
|
The InfoCenter's been updated again.
Most of the updates this time are related to the LU24 changes in harvesting and tradeskilling, though I did add a walk-thru for the "Words of Pure Magic" language quest. And now, a request.... If you like the InfoCenter, and haven't already done so, please take a moment and rate it. (I'd prefer if you rate it "5," of course, but give it the rating you think it deserves.) :D Let's see if we can get it on the "Top Rated" list as well as on the "Top Favorites" list. :D -- Darryl (Milquetowst) |
Are you kidding?? This rates much higher then a lousy 5! :nana:
|
T6 harvests
Attached is an updated T6 harvested items file that adds common & rare pelts and corrects the rare loam name.
|
Yet another update....
I completed updating the cookbook, added a list showing which artisan classes have a use for each type of harvestable item, and.... Um.... I updated the T6 harvest page. :P -- Darryl |
More missing lvl 64 priest spells
Admit it, you don't like priests. ;) I checked all lvl64 mage and priest spells and you were still missing the following priest spells at that level:
Inquisitor: 64: Debase Mystic: 64: Eidolon Defiler: 64: Malignancy (Master II option) Templar: 64: Sign of Fraility Also, I repost the Warden spell, because I made two typos in the first version that you already included. :o Warden: 64: Trapping Vines EDIT to add: T1 harvest, freeport isle, lists still "sullied low quality" instead of "rawhide" leather pelts. |
Problem with "Worts" update
The recent update stating that the "WORTS" page has been replaced with "Who uses what" doesn't seem to show up for me.
I have tried re-installing the most recent download of Towst UI from scratch as well as adding in just the T7 Spell update download, but nothing seems to change. Am I missing something here? :o PS. Thank you for compiling all this info. I use it every time I play. |
Don't use the spell update, since it is outdated. I haven't checked it out, but it's likely that the old WORT's file comes from there. The infocenter itself has the "WHO USES WHAT?" page.
|
I will try reinstalling again >< This will be like the 5th time.
|
Well, I upated the InfoCenter again. I fixed a few minor errors and omissions, and also added lists of Character Traits and Racial Traditions, since several different people have suggested doing so.
On another note.... Happy Fourth of July to those who, like me, are celebrating living in the country that talks about freedom more than any other in the world! (No cynicism there, nope.) And on yet another note.... As today also happens to be the InfoCenter's six-month birthday, I want to take a moment to thank those who are using it and who, through their suggestions and assistance, have helped to make it what it is today! :D -- Darryl (Milquetowst) |

OK, I've released several updates recently that I didn't bother to note here, including (of course) updating the Info Center with GU25 info, but the update I just uploaded is actually pretty significant.
I've added a walk-thru for "Blood of the Brood" (a.k.a. Hoo'loh's Hat Quest). More importantly, I've added walk-thrus for all the quests in the Peacock and Claymore series. (Thanks, Tasi, for doing about half the work for me!) Since I didn't want to add 60 buttons to the "quests" button column, and didn't have room at the top of the window for another tab or two, I had to get creative. :D You can see what I came up with in the attached screenshot. There's a single button for each of the series in the main "quests" button column, but if you click one of them, a second button column appears with buttons for each individual quest in that series. So, yes, the Info Center is now set up for tertiary menus. :D -- Darryl (Milquetowst) |
lol wow you did get creative nested scrolls lol Nice! glad some of it helped

Cookbook
OK. I redownloaded for the claymore stuff today but somehow my cookbook stuff reverted to the pre-LU24 recipies and I lost the current ones that used to be in there.
Is this an error on my side? |

Ok, I could really use some help here as I have no idea how to get this thing to load. I have read all the install guides and have other things working fine but not Info Center.
Right now I have EQ2MAP, HimaysStartBar, Milquetowst_Clock_and_Compass, Milquetowst_Info_Center, Milquetowst_Quest_Journal. The only two I am having problems with would be the info center and the start bar. I have read through this thread and dont really see anything relating to the problem I am having but I can say I have tried doing that one tip to the mainhud file and I double check all my other steps. Maybe I am just missing something and there is a hotkey I need to use to open the window.. I am lost. |
Just checking. Did you follow these instructions?
Installation is simple: Unzip the eq2ui_journals_infocenter.xml and eq2ui_journals.xml files, and the "infocenter" folder (with its various subfolders), into your custom UI folder. (If you don't already have a custom UI folder, then you need to create one and tell the game to use it. Instructions for doing so can be found elsewhere on this site.) Once you're in the game, you can call up the info center any time you like by typing "/show_window Journals.InfoCenter" (or by creating a macro to do it for you). |
Found an ommission
Greetings - I discovered that there is a missing item in the monk skill list:
Lev. 62 - Flailing Centipede - flurry of melee attacks *upgrade Lunging Mongoose.47* the monk board has a very nice list of skills on the boards at: http://eqiiforums.station.sony.com/e...cending&page=1 it not only lists them by level - but also includes a note whenever a new skill is an upgrade to an old one - I've plugged it in to my own copy of Info Center and use it constantly. thanks again for a fantastic mod - dont know how I ever played without it ! |
