This mod looks great but it's giving me headaches.
Im new to EQ2 and certainly new to modding it. I have followed your instructions to a tee but the UI doesnt auto load. Yes, I he created the eq2.ini file. I have to type /loadui. From there I can see the UI. I select it, arrange it to my needs but I notice that my journal and skills windows are empty. I have applied the patch also. The biggest problem is that I have to do a /load every time i relog and it is really annoying. Then I have to arrange the interface again. What could be causing this? Or what am I doing wrong? Cheers. |
how do I get rid of the U in the inventory screen?

Hey mcruk,

For all those having problems with persistent persona bar
Yes, I have done some digging in the Classic and the Nightfall threads and found a solution to those who want their persona status bar to remain visible... this is for everyone who doesn't have time to go through 50+ pages of threads:
First you need to modify your eq2ui_mainhud_persona.xml file and the eq2ui_mainhud_compass.xml file in your Fetish folder, as Zonx sez here: http://www.eq2interface.com/forums/s...&postcount=250 Then go through your folders and delete all "ui settings" .ini files for your characters (server_character_eq2_uisettings.ini). Yes, this will be a pain to get all the interfaces set up again, but you need to start with the following file anew, that was given in this post. http://www.eq2interface.com/forums/s...85&postcount=5 It is important to use the file Binton gives instead of letting the server save a file to your directory... somehow the settings get corrupted in transit from the server to your computer and the first part of these instructions (using Zonx's fix for persona bar being visible) will be useless as it will not work with a file created by the client. You are taking Binton's copy and only letting the client modify it, not create a new one. If not, you will likely be pulling your hair out wondering why it didn't work. Re-doing all your characters' UI files are not as daunting as it sounds. Pick a character from either city to be your default UI for Qeynos or Freeport... get that character's UI set up in the generic way you like your UI, copy the file before you customize it (preferably saving a copy as say server_QEYNOS_eq2_uisettings.ini and the same for Freeport (and for those literal-minded people, save it as: server_FREEPORT_eq2_uisettings.ini)). Now you should have a UI settings file to "clone" for each character and customize for that character as you log it on (all the hard work of having your UI layout in your generic preference will be done). Also, reading through these threads, I want to remind everyone of something: Zonx is doing this for free, receiving no compensation except for the adoration of his stalkers. This is not Dell Technical Support... so you need to take a do-it-yourself attitude to fixing problems with a UI mod that is provided to you for nothing. There is a saying Robert A. Heinlein made famous, 'TANSTAAFL' (There ain't No Such Thing as a Free Lunch)... you and I have to step up and offer our help to others if Zonx is to enjoy some free holiday time from having to pull his hairs out from working on the multiple interfaces he keeps up to date. |

I would also guess that since SOE has been talking about redoing the subclasses so that you start getting your spells appropriate to your final class earlier, that "eq2ui_NewCharScene_NCSSubClass.xml" is a new .xml file from the expansion #2, as it hasn't been released yet. Only thing I can think of is that somehow the EQ2 client is calling for files that might have been used on the Test server, but are gone for some reason... It's not a problem with Fetish as far as I can see as it's only modded for what's been released on Live Updates and not modded for Test Server as files change too often on Test to keep up with modding a new UI for each change. |
Hi no dont play on test server uninstalled game reinstalling now maybe that will help post after downloading done.thanks for reply

However I've switched to thor. I miss fetish. |
Maybe its been said and done, but ...
I've been looking for how you can change the colors of Nightfall, ie, I want a more gothic look of Black and Blood Reds, etc.
I'm sure there's a post for how to do this, but I haven't been able to find it or maybe I'm just getting noob'd and not seeing it. Could someone post the link or maybe how you can change the colors of the background/foreground, etc. I tried looking in the documentation that came with the UI but haven't been able to find anything. Any help would be greatly appreciated and if I can do this, I'll see if I can upload this as an 'alternate' color scheme for Nightfall. |

Been getting this since starting to use Fetish the week LU18 went live, not sure which of the two is causing it. Anyone else getting this? |
The crash error is sonys error not fetish. Even people with no custom UI get the same thing since LU18.

Journal tabs
I miss the other tabs I had in Thor, Heritage and Writs so I know who to go to. I am forever forgetting what these quests are and those tabs sure are handy. I thought I saw them in one of your screen shots but have not found a way to make them show in my setup. Everything else works great.

I use Valdacil's Journal with Fetish. It works very well. You can find it under the downloads section, Interface Pieces, Journal (http://www.eq2interface.com/download...fo.php?id=4089) |

Once you have the old and new codes for colors it shoudlnt be bad at all.. can use a find/replace in the text editor, and just type in the old, click and replace, then click find next and so on.. not that bad at all :) can even use the SEARCH in windows, for files and folders, and specify the Fetish directory, and even a wildcard like *.xml or something, and get all those with the code in it, listed, and you can then click on each to pull it up to do the find/replace. good luck! Any word from zonx..havent seen a post in awhile. Still looking for a lu18 zonx patch.
Love this UI..hope you are still out there zonx!! |
I was wondering the same thing Lbiley, even if the mini patch made by Jarreck for fetish nightfall 5.2 makes the ui runnning well with LU18.
Common, Zonx, you're a star for EQ2 community now, you have to undertake your rank and give us a LU18 fix :nana: :nana: :nana: |

Any clue as to what the purple number is, off hand? I guess I can try and do a search for each purple in one of the .xmls till I get one it finds, then replace it. |
Has anyone seen a post from Zonx lately? It's been a while since LU18 came out and we've yet to get a post or update. This isn't like Zonx at all. Hopefully everything is all right in RL with him. This is by far the best Custom UI available, even better than those garbage ones done by T. King. Come back soon Zonx

I'll join you in wishing for Zonx well-being. I think it's fair to assume that RL is taking precedence right now. I just hope it's nothing more serious than a move, bust PC, or ISP trouble. |
quest reward window?
will there ever be a update for LU18? getting tired of the your ui doesn't support.... for the quest reward window.
|
You know. For some strange reason, I have no problem with using Fetish and having the windows broken. Maybe he's on vacation. Maybe he's sick and can't make it to the computer. Just because he hasn't or can't do a 'fix' in your timeslot, doesn't mean he can and is chosing not to. Be patient. If you really want to fix your journal (the reward part for each quest, correct?) then download Silverfoxes journal and bam, its fixed for now. Give people a break. It's done for free. Maybe you should try to learn how to mod for free and see how that works out for you...
|
I believe he's talking about the actual quest pop up window, the new one gives the quest, a description of it and tells the reward(s). I've been playing with that window trying to get it functioning so that the error box no longer pops up when given a new quest, but am running into some problems with it. The background for the box isn't showing and the Description and reward page are still showing in default, however the error msg isn't popping up anymore. If anyone is willing, I wouldn't mind some help seeing what I've done wrong lol. :)
|
|
I tried that, it DL'd as a .dds file that I can do nothing with, so just editing the windows myself. =)
|
Zonk where are you
Zonk , please post us a note that you are OK ,
you have never been away this long. We miss you, you are the king and LU19 is coming, who knows what sony do to this the best UI in the game. |
Hope to see you soon Zonx!
Request: This is something I noticed a while ago, but never mentioned it cause I was hoping for a fix. Whenever you log in, to character select, after going LD and crashing out, and try to log in to a character that's in use, there's no 'OK' button on the message that pops up. So basically, every time someone logs on and tries to use a character that just went LD, you have to go to char select, get that message, and X out of EQ2 - since there's no way to hit 'OK' on the message that pops up saying 'You already have a character in the world...' |

I'm Still Here :)
Thanks for the concern and sry for the delay on this update.
December holidays and serious job searching has kept me away from modding. My last post and Branaddar2's mini-patch seamed to be doing a decent job of addressing LU18 issues, so I wasn't too concerned about a new release. Guild drama has also left me pretty dissatified with the game, but I do plan to keep the Fetish UI going. I hope to have updates for both Nightfall and Classic later this week. |
Yay! Looking forward to it. And yes the UI with the patch is still very functional.
Good luck With the job hunting! And don't let guild drama get you down. There are always other guilds. ;) |
Good to see that your doing as well as possible Zonx, GL with the job hunt.
|
Glad to hear everything's ok Zonx.

I've just started using your UI, it's my first time using a modified UI. Basically, it's great, except for a few things.
One being the meter type health/power bars. Can't get used to them, but I am a bit confused as to whether they have alternate styles or how to implement them. I read your docs but being new to using modified UIs, I feel it's gone way over my head. So if you can explain a bit more clearer to me, then that would be great. Secondly, the group window. I think it might be a bit bugged. I was in a raid last night, and tried to target the MT via the group window, as I always do. It selected the MT briefly then automatically switched to some other group member randomly, which made it very frustrating. Sometimes it would select the MT but then switch to the mob instead. Or it would select the MT, but then deselect so I end up not targetting anyone. The Persona bar... I assume that's the bar showing your stats, coin, etc? It disappeared from the UI, and I don't know how to get it back. The recipe book window. Normally I can check to see what crafting books I already have, but it would seem I can't do that with Fetish. The inventory window. I loved the fact with the default UI that I could just drag and drop items and coin into the center to automatically put them into the bags or equip them. The inventory window also had an autodrop bar, like the bank window did. That seems to be missing from the Fetish UI. I find that I can't drag and drop items/coins either. It would be nice if you could implement these things at some point. Other than that, great job. :nana: |

Jaex, regarding health and power bars... inside your Fetish directory is an images directory. There you'll find fetish_bar.dss, _ribbed_fetish_bars.dds and _simple_fetish_bars.dds files there. To change which style is used, simply rename the files so the desired style is named fetish_bars.dds.
For example: to change to the ribbed style, rename the currect fetish_bars.dds to _metered_fetish_bars.dds then rename _ribbed_fetish_bars.dds to fetish_bars.dds The group, pet and target names have an auto assist feature. To select a group member or pet, click anywhere else in the window except their name. The personabar can be reopened via the "P" button in the Persona window titlebar. The Recipie window should show you what books you have scribed as usual. To see them, click the "edit" button next to the filter menu, then scroll to the bottom. Auto-inventory should work as usual by dropping items into the center of the "uncollapsed" inventory window. It will not work while the window is collapsed with center area hidden. Coins should always be droppable into the coin area of the inventory window. |
