Ok
I removed and stop all secruity software and NO it still gives the same error.
I looking into a port scaner to see if I find out where it all goes wrong. Anyone have any idea??? I scaned my port and open the program and its not opening the port also not open any new port nothing ?? |
The port should be opened by javaw.exe, but I suppose you know that.
I just noticed that the updater does not appear to support proxy servers. The proxy info I enter into the control panel applet is just ignored. When I supply the proxy information manually via the command line it works: javaw.exe -Dhttp.proxyHost=PROXYHOST -Dhttp.proxyPort=PROXYPORT -jar Updater.jar Kaldran, start fixing the network code of Java. ;) |
True !
Also gm9 I not useing a proxy. Also it would open some sort of port to connect right ? I could be wrong though Hell I not know it all. :nana:
Network engineer <--- NOT! Thnxs for the quick answer maybe we can get this solved, if there anything else you want me to try let me know K! |

??? Kaldran ????
OK i think I begaining to see the error in the way. Is it just me or is anyone else having issue connect to the link he PM us ??
:nana::confused::nana: |
I'm currently checking the server's and backbone's network settings. I recently changed DNS settings, so maybe it did not propagate the domain names correctly. Pretty unlikely though....
|
you should have an auto-launch eq2 checkbox.

Quest Window
Ok, I have re-downloaded and re-run the auto updater multiple times and I can't seem to get the quest window to work anymore...the Quest Helper/Active window....It used to have the ability to right click and scroll to the most recently updated quest...Or am I incorrect and was I using someone else's mod to do that??
Thanks. Fyn |
Fyndolyn, you probably used Calain's mod, I still haven't gotten around to add that (but will).

Thank you very much. My bad...I looked around but must have missed it. Thanks for the link. Fyn |
:-(
Everyone I talk to loves the auto updater. I see that you're putting hard work into it and hard work to get it working for everyone.
Things on my end... ran the new .exe to see if it would fix my problem... nope. I still get the same "service is unavailable at this time, please try back later". I also noted another issue... I don't get the shortcut installed on my desktop or my program files as noted in the installation instructions. |
I can confirm that the shortcut currently won't be installed on the desktop, I broke something in the installer when renaming a file. The start menu shortcut should be there though, right at the top.
We have a new version of it upcoming anyway, fixing a Vista issue and adding proxy support. Regarding the service unavailable issues we are still tracking the reasons for them, so far it appeared to have been individual ISP's that had trouble with DNS resolution. Can you access the this link to the changelog in your browser? |

Ok... I do have the shortcut on the start menu. Thank you... I just didn't look where it was supposed to be. Quote:
As for the link, I am unable to reach the site. I am given the "internet explore is unable to open this site" error... Thank you... :-) |
Check your PM please...
|
That means that you have DNS trouble as well. I have an idea and will talk to Kaldran about that, don't despair. ;)
Edit: Dang I'm slow responding, didn't even see him above... |
THANK YOU SOOOOOO MUCH.
I really do appreciate your help and time spent on this. |
I'm Back HEHEHE
OK after a long night of killing my computer and driver and everything else I think I eat cat Last night not to sure "Burp".
I should have a answer for althos epeople or atleast a point in the right direct. sometime later I right now working with a Actually Network engineer to help find whats causing this issue. So we can get a fix for it. :nana: " Service unavaible issue" :nana: Thnxs :nana::nana: |

thanks it's a great feature |
Perhaps a temporary fix
Hello,
I added the following line to my hosts file. (you can edit this file with notepad) 85.214.17.144 updater.pala.de The file is in c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc Open the file and add the line above to the empy space after the comments. I was able to resolve my "unable to connect" issues with this workaround. Please remember that you will need to remove this line once the other DNS issues are resolved or you may get connection issues in the future if the IP address of the servers changes. Oh, and Thanks GM9 and Kaldran. Good stuff. |
WoooooHoooooo
That fixed my problem. Don't know what it was... but wooohooo.
Thank you sooo much!!! |
Yup, that will fix it as long as i don't change IPs. Still curious what causes that problem though :P
BTW, if anyone wants to translate the updater to another language, just give me a call. It's pretty easy to do and java is handling unicode quite well... |

AutoUdater & skin color
i love the auto updater, so thanks...
here's my ?... when i run the updater it changes my skin color back to the default blue-ish color... i really like the look of the black skin color from the skin pack... the way i have done a run arround is to reinstall the skin color each time i run the updater.. i have looked inthe fils to ignor section..but im not having any luck finding the proper one to keep the skin color i like. thx for the help in advance. |
Just keep the files you unpack on ignore:
UI\ProfitUI\images\commonelements.dds UI\ProfitUI\images\profit.dds UI\ProfitUI\images\windows_elements_generic.dds UI\ProfitUI\images\window_elements_specific.dds UI\ProfitUI\images\windowelements.dds |

_______________________________ woot... thanks worked ;) |
kaldran & gm 9, the posted fix corrected my issue as well. i in the process i think i discovered what causes this on some systems.
if you use a utility like spy bot search and destroy for spyware. it will make the hosts files read only and nothing can get added to it. hence updater wont work. my other system that it worked fine on the host file was not locked into read only. but when i manually put as read only it blocked the updater on that system as well. so it would seem certain utilities blocks access to these files that the updater needs. |
Actually the updater neither reads nor modifies the hosts file. The problem on some systems is, that it does not resolve hostnames correctly. If you set up the hosts file, Windows will overwrite dns answers with the ip set.
I still think it is related to faulty dns answers from some ISPs. Would be interesting what service providers and dns you use.... |
Anyway to have the updater read the eq2.ini file before check for files to update? I have two folders for my profitui one with a healer setup with differant mods and the one for my other toons.
The updater only wants to install in to /profitui folder and unless I am blind I can not see anywhere to change this path to point to other folders. |
Sorry, the updater does not support that and it will not be added.
One of many reasons is that ProfitUI does require certain files to be in a folder named \ProfitUI, so we will not support installing in another folder. |

Not sure if this is intentional or not, as its the first time I've updated the updater, but it didn't carry over the files to ignore; had to reselect them.. fyi.
Loving it though! |
Intentional. It won't happen again as long as I don't tell it to do so :P
|
You can tell Kaldran loves the power he wields. If you don't behave next thing you'll know he'll push some Hello Kitty Online Adventures interface down to you and ruin your game. :D
|
BTW, just found a bug in the updaters' selfupdate functions. Actually it is not able to update itself since I released the .exe wrapper. Never try to overwrite files in use :P
Not sure why noone noticed that yet, but I'll push an update soon that will fix it (i think) without user interaction needed... ...and you may want to delete that *.tmp file in your updaters' directory :P |

The exe was renamed though in the process. And replacing the .jar actually worked fine for me with the old version even when started via the .exe. But anyway, does not matter, thanks for the fix.
Now either save the hash generation path to the database or just make it a command line parameter, you've been slacking for far too long on that one. :p |
not til sunday :P
|
Hi good work on the updater, i'm just setting it up now.
Is the Milquetowst Info Center also updated within your updater ? Ciao |
